The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICE) organizes a pavilion with 20 companies at the international fair Meat Attraction 2023

The Junta de Castilla y León, through The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICE), will exhibit a wide range of products at Meat Attraction 2023. From frogs' legs to the emblematic acorn-fed Iberian hams, and will feature all types of fresh and cured meats representative of the region.

In the meat sector of Castilla y León, pork has a special tradition. Of particular note is the ham, mainly from Iberian pigs raised on acorn-fed pastures and with the D.O.P. Guijuelo quality mark, which markets more than 50% of Spain's Iberian ham. Also of this same denomination of origin is the recebo ham and within the Traditional Specialties Guaranteed, the Serrano ham. Castilla y León ranks third in terms of pork production.

Castilla y León is also the second largest producer of sheep meat, and the region has several native breeds such as the Churra, Ojalada and Castellana, as well as Merino and, above all, Assaf. The region also has a Protected Geographical Indication and a Guarantee Mark for the commercialization of sheep meat.

Cattle are also of transcendental importance in the economy of Castilla y León, since the region is the region with the largest cattle census in Spain. This autonomous community has different cattle breeds identified with some quality figures, among the autochthonous ones we find the Morucha, Avileña Negra Ibérica, Sayaguesa, Alistana-Sanabresa or Monchina.

It is also important to highlight that this land is a traditional place for the breeding of oxen of appreciated and juicy red meat.

In a region as large and geographically diverse as Castilla y León, with landscapes of plains and mountains, hunting has always been very abundant and is reflected in a wide assortment of this type of meat, which will also be present at the fair.
