The trade fair’s organisers hold a two-day promotional event in Seville to meet with companies and professionals interested in taking part in this major event for the agri-food industry.

The Anuga Select Ibérica team has organised a two-day promotional event in Seville to meet with companies and professionals interested in taking part in this major agri-food industry event, being organised by IFEMA MADRID and Koelnmesse, from 16 to 18 February 2027 in Madrid.

Over the course of these meetings, the team highlighted the opportunities for participation, the profiles of expected buyers and the potential the event offers to boost the visibility, business development and international profile of participating companies.

According to María José Sánchez, director of Anuga Select Ibérica,“the event was a resounding success, as we have been able to share with more than 50 companies from the agri-food industry – all of whom are interested in our trade fair – the opportunities that Anuga Select Ibérica will be offering the industry next year”.

Andalusia is one of Spain’s major agri-food powerhouses, underpinned by a network comprising some 5,800 agri-food businesses, which account for 19% of all businesses in the region, generate 18% of industrial Gross Value Added (GVA) and account for 24.3% of industrial employment. Regarded by the Regional Government of Andalusia as the region’s main industrial sector and a key economic driver for rural areas, the agri-food industry also features a strong cooperative movement, which accounts for 60% of Andalusia’s agro-industrial revenue. In the first half of 2026, Andalusian agri-food exports reached 9.326 billion euros, marking a 0.8% increase compared to the same period in 2025, with nearly four million tonnes sold, accounting for 23.4% of national agri-food exports.

The event in Seville forms part of the tour of the Iberian Peninsula launched by Anuga Select Ibérica last June in Barcelona, which is currently continuing across the whole of Spain, with the aim of raising awareness of the project among agri-food businesses in these regions and encouraging their participation in the first edition. The next stop will be Valencia, on 26 and 27 October.

Santiago González Mele, Koelnmesse’s representative for the Iberian Peninsula, emphasises that “Anuga is the global benchmark for the food industry, and with Anuga Select Ibérica we want to make that expertise available to Spanish and Portuguese companies. This tour of Spain gives us the opportunity to get to know its companies first-hand and show them how the trade fair can help them grow in international markets.”

To date, Anuga Select Ibérica has more than 500 confirmed exhibitors and 21 countries represented. Consequently, this first edition of the event will feature the most important sectors of the food and drink industry with commercial interests in the Iberian Peninsula, such as the meat, bakery and patisserie, frozen food and drinks industries, fine food and, in general, all those with interests in international markets, which will be represented through the buyer programme already in place for this event.

For her part, María José Sánchez emphasises that “we want Anuga Select Ibérica to be the leading business platform for the entire food industry of the Iberian Peninsula, and that means working closely with companies in each region. Marketing is progressing very well, and in Seville we explained to the companies what sort of buyers they can expect to encounter and how to make the most of their participation.”

The first edition is underway

Anuga Select Ibérica, the result of a partnership between Koelnmesse and IFEMA MADRID, will be bringing together a broad cross-section of the industry over four halls, featuring Meat Attraction and BICA (Bakery & Ice Cream Attraction), as well as dedicated areas for frozen, chilled and fresh products, dairy, beverages, hot drinks, gourmet, organic and auxiliary industries.

With five months to go until the event, Anuga Select Ibérica has already confirmed more than 500 exhibiting companies from 21 countries, while forecasts suggest there will be more than 50,000 trade visitors, around 30% of whom will come from international markets.
