Castilla y León is a land rich in high quality meats and unique flavours. The nine provinces of the Community share the importance of tradition, quality and good taste, although each one of them has its own personality and gastronomic essence which is the result of years of history in meat production.
There is no doubt that the region's pork and the different types of sausages are a national reference, but anyone who knows about meat knows that the quality of meat from Castilla y León is special, whether it is bovine, beef or any other type.
The importance of production in the meat sector in Castilla y León is so great that it represents more than 12% of total production in Spain and generates more than 11,000 jobs. The figures also reveal the importance of agri-food activity in the region's exports: more than 2,700 million euros per year, which represents 17% of regional exports.
This year, ICE will be supporting 20 companies representing the meat sector of Castilla y León in its pavilion at MEAT ATTRACTION. They will exhibit a variety of products such as Iberian sausages, beef products, including ox meat, as well as pork products with organic certification. Typical products such as suckling lamb, suckling pig, chorizos, black pudding, torreznos de Soria (Soria bacon) and cecinas de venison and beef will be on display. Other special products will also be on display: meat products made from truffles and mushrooms, as well as frogs' legs.
