Sociedad Geográfica de las Indias Holds a Hundred Business Meetings and Makes 1500 New Contacts at FITUR
Pedro Gonzalez Figuls, head of communications at Sociedad Geográfica de las Indias (Geographical Society of the Indies), expresses his satisfaction with their participation at FITUR 2021. As well as business meetings and new contacts, they have signed several deals to be announced soon. “We’ve had lots of different kinds of contacts, from meetings with partners, suppliers and travellers we already know, to meetings with potential travellers, partners, media, and agencies.”
The head of communications at Sociedad Geográfica de las Indias explains that “although the pandemic has affected our business, we’re grateful to the organisers for their courage in promoting tourism’s recovery internationally. A year ago, Ifema transformed its halls into a field hospital to cope with the Covid crisis. Now, a year later, it’s back to encouraging travel and people’s hopes and plans.”
In this respect, “Sociedad Geográfica de las Indias has achieved media coverage as we are one of the few Spanish agencies offering trips abroad. As a result, we’ve been discussing potential partnerships, and we’ve been talking to travellers who are very keen to get travelling again.”
Gonzalez also highlights, among other events, “the press conference we did with El Langui and Rodrigo Moreno. We discussed the future of travel and the Responsible and Sustainable Tourism award to us by FITUR, InterMundial and UNWTO. We dedicated the award to our colleague Misal Ji, who, sadly, passed away at the beginning of the year.”
