The new Vithas Salud-Comprehensive Medical Centre in El Ejido has opened its doors. Located at the city-access roundabout in Avenida Ciavieja 15, the centre will provide comprehensive medical care to private patients, those with individual and mutual health insurance policies and patients involved in road traffic accidents, offering healthcare in the fields of ophthalmology, paediatrics, dentistry, A&E, among others. The quality of healthcare, medical excellence and proximity to the patient will be at the heart of the centre's activity, which is backed up by 75 years of experience of the Vithas Virgen del Mar Hospital in Almeria. The Vithas Health Group has a total of 19 hospitals and 29 medical centres in Spain.
Vithas Salud-Comprehensive Medical Centre offers a wide range of services made up of 18 specialities, including Emergency Department, Nursing, Observation Room (4 boxes), dental department, Mother and Child Unit, Ophthalmology Unit, Corporal Unit (cosmetic and aesthetic surgery and dermatology), Road Traffic Accidents Unit, physiotherapy, traumatology and general surgery, among others.
The centre proudly boasts the most advanced technological equipment. Patient can rely on its Radio-Diagnostic Unit for conventional examinations, mammography, orthopantomography and ultrasound, as well as the latest technology in ophthalmology such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), which allows diagnosing retinal and optic nerve pathologies, or biometrics by optical interferometry (IOL Master), which in cataract surgeries calculates the dimensions of the intraocular lens with great accuracy.
The Ophthalmology Unit at Vithas Salud-Comprehensive Medical Centre will replace the Vithas Salud Retinum centre, providing patients with cutting-edge facilities and the same team of professionals, offering a wide array of services. The Unit is divided into functional sections including those for refractive surgery (myopia, far-sightedness, astigmatism), presbyopia and cataracts, cornea and keratome, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology section, retina, vitreous and uveitis section, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus section, oculoplasty, orbit and lacrimal tract section and clinical optometry, contactology and low vision section.
