Registration Period For the AMT Smart Destinations Awards 5th edition Is Open

Entries for the AMT Smart Destinations Awards next edition can be registered from 28th October to 28th November 2021.

On 20th January 2022, during the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), the Hotel Technology Institute (IHT) will present the AMT Smart Destinations Awards.  This year, the Hotel Technology Institute is partnering with the Alliance of Sun and Beach Tourist Municipalities to organise the fifth edition of the AMT Smart Destinations Awards. These awards will be for the best already implemented technology solutions and tools helping tourist destinations meet the challenges of becoming a smart tourism destination (STD). These awards will pay special attention to solutions that are helping to restart business and promote tourism in the current situation.

Only the three finalists in each category will have the opportunity to present their solutions at the #techYdestino forum at FITURTECHY, a space dedicated to innovation and technology in destinations, during the FITUR international tourism fair. The AMT Smart Destinations Awards will be held on Thursday 20th January during the afternoon session, closing the day with the announcement of the winner in each category.

The three finalist solutions in each category will be announced on 10th January, before FITURTECHY begins. They will be included in an online catalogue of technology solutions submitted to the Alliance of Sun and Beach Tourist Municipalities (AMT).

Technology solutions and Tools can enter in five different categories:

Governance & Public Management

Interaction With Tourists & Residents

Accessibility

Environmental Sustainability

Destination Promotion & Marketing

The members of the jury for the AMT Smart Destinations Awards will include representatives of the Alliance of Sun and Beach Tourism Municipalities (AMT): The town councils of Salou, Lloret de Mar, Calviá, Torremolinos, Benidorm, Adeje, Arona and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, as well as a group of professional specialists from the hotel sector and the Spanish tourism industry, from Invat·tur, Segittur, Fitur, ITH and Thinktur.

The winners of the 2021 edition were: ILUNION Hotels in the Accessibility category; BIONTREND (HOSBEC), which won the award for the best tool in the Governance and Public Management category; CheckBarcelona (Turisme de Barcelona) was awarded in the category for Interaction With Tourists & Residents. Passporter was awarded in the category Destination Promotion & Marketing. The award in the Environmental Sustainability category was presented to Greemko.
