The FITUR International Tourism Trade Fair, under the banner ‘We Embrace the World’, has already announced the winners of the 27th Active Tourism Contest. Organised by FITUR, together with the magazine AireLibre, it aims to promote the development and marketing of the tourism industry, with a focus on adventure tourism, culture, nature, wine and food tourism, as well as technological development, accessibility and the environment.

This year, the panel - composed of consumers, tourism professionals, media and representatives of the tourism sector - has had a particularly difficult task. Almost 100 submissions presented by FITUR 2022 exhibitors and co-exhibitors have stood out for their superior quality. Finally, after long deliberation with more than 7,300 votes cast by both consumers and professionals, the prize-winning products have been selected. The winners in the national classification are Eat, drink, dream... in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz (Andalusia); a Sensory Experience in Historic Bilbao, (Basque Country); Churreros de Aliste - Transhumance and a Journey into the Past, in Aliste, Zamora (Castile and León). In the international category, meanwhile, the prizes went to Cooperative Adventure in Zimbabwe for the Protection of Rhinos (Zimbabwe); Jalmahotsav - India’s One-of-a-Kind Water Festival, on Hanuwantiya Island (India), and the Dominican Republic - Treasure Lies Within (Dominican Republic). The six winners will all be awarded a seal identifying them as winners at this year’s FITUR.

The awards will be presented within the framework of FITUR, which this year takes place from 19 to 23 January at Feria de Madrid, under the banner ‘We Embrace the World’.
