Catalonia Adds Six New Towns to Its Tourist Brands
L’Estartit, Cambrils, l’Ampolla and Tarragona have been awarded the tourist brand “Barrios y Villas Marineras” (Marine Districts and Villages of Catalonia). Arties was awarded “Pueblo con Encanto” (Charming Villages), and Caldes de Malavella, “Ciudad con Carácter” (Town with Character”.
The General Manager for Tourism, Octavi Bono, and the head of the Catalan Tourism Agency (ACT), David Font, recently presented the six new towns and villages awarded the “Barrios y Villas Marineras”, “Pueblos con Encanto” and “Ciudades y Villas con Carácter” labels. These awards are specialised tourism brands promoted by the Department of Business and Knowledge.
These labels are a recognition of the towns’ efforts to encourage quality, diversified and seasonally adjusted tourism, in line with the priorities set out by the regional government’s strategies for the tourism industry: the Catalonia Strategic Tourism Plan and the Catalonia 2018-2022 Tourism Marketing Plan.
These plans aim to promote tourism as a tool for development, economic diversification, and future sustainability for cities, towns, and villages, build synergies between towns, and reconcile residents’ needs with those of visitors and tourists.
