The online edition of ARCOlisboa 2020, held from 20 May to 14 June, served to stimulate the contemporary art market and generated business opportunities for the 70 participating galleries.

A total of 124,000 people visited the Artsy.net digital platform, where thousands of works were presented by the galleries selected by the Organising Committee and the curators of the Opening -(Kunsthalle Lissabon) and Africa in Focus (Paula Nascimento) sections. For four weeks, the initiative enabled galleries to interact with collectors, potential buyers and the general public, with participating galleries recording more than 500 direct enquiries.

Artsy.net also made it possible to explore ARCOlisboa 2020 through the Curators and Collectors Pick initiative, featuring selections by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas, Bruno Leitão, João Laia, Jimena Blázquez, Aveline de Bruin and Jorge Fernández Vidal .

The ARCOlisboa Forum received a warm welcome from 700 participants who attended digital sessions courtesy of Kunsthalle Lissabon, Filipa Oliveira, Tiago de Abreu Pinto, Miguel Mesquita, João Ribas and Paula Nascimento, with participation by leaders of institutions such as Catarina Vaz Pinto, Tobi Maier, Beatrice Leanza, Philippe Vergne, Guilherme Blanc, Barbara Piwowarska and Inês Moreira; artists like Nadia Belerique, Eugénia Mussa, Blessing Ngobeni, Troy Mazaka and Diana Policarpo, and collectors like Armando Cabral and Antonio Cachola. This programme also included conversations about contemporary art publications organised by ArtsLibris - Susana Lourenço and João Figueira.

During this special online edition of ARCOlisboa, the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa purchased works by 25 artists, mostly Portuguese creators, worth 150,000 euros. Among them were Ana Santos, Augusto Alves da Silva, Bruno Pacheco, Catarina Dias, Dealmeida Esilva, Igor Jesus, Isabel Madureira Andrade, Joana Escoval, João Pedro Vale & Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva, Miguel Palma, Noé Sendas, Nuno Henrique, Pedro Tropa, Ricardo Jacinto, Sara Bichão, Tatiana Macedo and Von Calhau!
