ARCOmadrid 2025
Other programmes

anonymous art project, launched in January 2023, unites collectors, gallerists, curators, artists, and museums to support contemporary Japanese artists. Operating nationally and internationally, it sponsors exhibitions, collects artworks, and donates them to public museums. We introduce Kei Takemura, born in Tokyo in 1975 and based in Takasaki, Gunma. Since the 2000s, Japanese art has developed a localized visual language, reflecting global trends and domestic critiques. Part of this evolution, she worked in Berlin (2000–2015), cultivating her style beyond Japan’s local context and resonating globally. Her art bridges past loss and future hope, reflecting resilience and a commitment to sustaining hope amid today’s fragile world.
