IFEMA MADRID has deemed the excellent work carried out by the ARCOmadrid and ARCOlisboa teams, which is recognised across the sector, to be the best guarantee for leading a new phase of the project.

Under the stewardship of Gonzalo Cabrera, IFEMA MADRID’s Director of Culture and Education, the team that established ARCO as a leading international contemporary art fair will continue to drive its development, ensuring continuity of identity, strategy and market confidence.

The ARCO team, led by Maribel López with remarkable success in recent years, combines experience with a new generation of talent. Notable members include Ruth Gómez, who is responsible for relations with national and international galleries; Mario Navarro, head of curated programmes; Carmen Tasende, responsible for special projects, architecture and sponsorship; Ana Álvarez, coordinator of the Forum and the professionals’ programme; M. Carmen del Peso, responsible for the Guest programme, art advisers and collectors; Gori Gómez, responsible for relations with cultural venues and institutions, and Pedro Vasconi, head of Fundación ARCO. Other professionals play essential roles in the organisation and international profile of the fair.

Gonzalo Cabrera has a solid track record spanning more than twenty years in managing various cultural sectors, and possesses excellent knowledge of contemporary art. Furthermore, in recent years it has launched a number of significant and high-profile programmes to support artists, galleries and collectors, promoted the acquisition of works for public collections and established a wide-ranging network of collaborations with museums, institutions, professionals and players in the art market.

This new phase will focus on strengthening ARCO’s international leadership, expanding its capacity to create opportunities for the sector, and positioning the fair to meet the new challenges of the global contemporary art ecosystem.
