EXPODENTAL SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS offers a substantial and comprehensive programme of seminars
A multidisciplinary and innovative Congress with the unique distinction of joint support and collaboration from the Spanish Ministry of Health and Madrid’s Regional Ministry of Health, various scientific associations, the Council of Dentists and the dental industry
Coordinated by Dr Jaime A. Gil Lozano and Dr Nacho Rodríguez Ruiz, the programme content has been structured within four scientific blocks directed by the Spanish Society of Periodontics and Osseointegration (SEPA), the Spanish Society of Prosthodontics and Aesthetic Prosthetics (SEPES), the Spanish Society of Orthodontics (SEDO) and the Spanish Association of Endodontics (AEDE)
Jointly organised by IFEMA and Brand Comunicación, and promoted by Fenin, the event will be held from 24 to 26 June (Thursday to Saturday), at Feria de Madrid
The EXPODENTAL SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS is the first large-scale EXPODENTAL multidisciplinary congress organised by IFEMA and Brand Comunicación, and promoted by Fenin, the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies. A substantial and comprehensive programme of seminars has already been confirmed for 25 and 26 June at the Feria de Madrid Convention Centre, offering dental professionals an opportunity to explore training and information opportunities for innovative treatments, technologies and up-to-the minute scientific content, all with the backing of the different scientific societies within their corresponding speciality-specific blocks.
This pioneering initiative, which has been extremely well received, has the unique distinction of support and collaboration from the Spanish Ministry of Health and Madrid’s Regional Ministry of Health, various scientific associations, the Council of Dentists and the dental industry. It represents an important step forward for EXPODENTAL, offering new platforms for analysis, debate and knowledge-sharing at the highest level, in line with the continuous technological development that characterises progress in this industry.
Friday 25 June seminars
The scientific programme beginning on Friday 25 June has been organised into two blocks, directed by the scientific societies SEPA, the Spanish Society of Periodontics and Osseointegration, and SEPES, the Spanish Society of Prosthodontics and Aesthetic Prosthetics. During these sessions, SEPA representative Dr Ana Molina will present the new Guide to the Treatment of Periodontal Disease in its different stages, following the guidelines of the European Federation of Periodontics. In addition, Dr Manuel Cabezas and Dr Ramón Asensio will offer a joint exhibition of combined perio-pros treatments for achieving an aesthetically perfect smile.
Next, Dr Miguel Roig and Dr Jaume Jiménez will talk about digital flow in prosthodontics and present complex clinical cases resolved with different interdisciplinary treatments. The morning session will end with a round table coordinated by Dr Miguel Roig, president of SEPES, and Dr Jaime A. Gil, president of the Congress.
In the afternoon, renowned laboratory technicians Javier Pérez and August Bruguera will discuss the digital workflow protocols in daily usage in dental laboratories, with a focus on the importance of digital smile design. The scientific programme will continue with Dr Eduardo Vázquez’s seminar on the different intraoral devices for the treatment of craniomandibular dysfunction. This block will conclude with a round table coordinated by Dr Miguel Roig and Dr Nacho Rodriguez, vice-president of the Congress.
Saturday 26 June seminars
Saturday’s programme is also divided into two scientific blocks. The morning block, directed by SEDO and coordinated by Dr José Luis Gandía and Dr Juan Carlos Pérez-Varela, president of SEDO, will begin with a session from Dr Manuel Román and Dr Arturo Vela, in which they will present various complex clinical cases treated with aligners, explaining the indications for their use and the treatment sequence.
Next, Dr Vanessa Paredes will discuss the highly topical issue of the use of micro screws in orthodontic treatments, presenting numerous clinical cases and offering indications and recommendations for the use of this technology.
Dr Juan Carlos Pérez-Varela, the current president of SEDO, will speak about new frontiers in the treatment of skeletal malocclusion in young people and adults, and the orthodontics block will then conclude with a seminar by Dr Enrique Solano on digital flow in the interdisciplinary treatment of aesthetic anterior dentition.
The closing round table will be moderated by Dr Juan Carlos Pérez-Varela and Dr José Luis Gandía, coordinator of the orthodontics session for the Congress.
The afternoon block, directed by the Spanish Association of Endodontics, AEDE, will be managed and coordinated by its president, Dr Leopoldo Forner. During these sessions, Dr José Aranguren will present a seminar entitled ‘The Limits of Endodontics’, which will cover the excellent outcomes of various complex cases. Other important topics of interest during the afternoon programme include discussion of the use of CBCT in orthodontic treatment by Dr José María Malfaz and a fascinating lecture on the clinical significance of endosseous implants by Dr Borja Zabalegui, which will close the endodontics block.
The session will end with a round table coordinated by Dr Leopoldo Forner, followed by an opportunity to raise a glass to all the experts, speakers and attendees, which will serve as the closing ceremony for this first EXPODENTAL SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS.

Jornada del viernes, 25 de junio
En este sentido, el programa científico que arranca el viernes, 25 de junio, se ha estructurado en dos bloques dirigidos por las sociedades científicas, SEPA, Sociedad Española de Periodoncia y Osteointegración, y SEPES, Sociedad Española de Prótesis, Estomatológica y Estética. En estas sesiones, la Dra. Ana Molina, como representante de SEPA, expondrá la nueva Guía de Tratamiento de la Peridontitis en sus distintos estadios de acuerdo con la Federación Europea de Periodoncia. Además, los Dres. Manuel Cabezas y Ramón Asensio, realizarán una exposición conjunta de los tratamientos combinados perio-pros para la obtención de una estética ideal de la sonrisa.
Seguidamente los Dres. Miguel Roig y Jaime Jiménez, hablarán sobre el flujo digital en prostodoncia y presentarán casos clínicos complejos resueltos con distintos tratamientos interdisciplinares. La sesión de mañana finalizará con una mesa redonda coordinada por el Dr. Miguel Roig, presidente de SEPES y el Dr. Jaime A. Gil, presidente del Congreso
Por la tarde, los prestigiosos técnicos de laboratorio, Javier Pérez y August Bruguera, abordarán los protocolos de trabajo con flujo digital que se realizan diariamente en los laboratorios dentales, con el foco en la importancia del diseño digital de la sonrisa. El programa científico continuará con la conferencia del Dr. Eduardo Vázquez sobre los distintos dispositivos intraorales para el tratamiento de la disfunción cráneo-mandibular. Este bloque concluirá con una mesa redonda coordinada por el Dr. Miguel Roig, y el Dr. Nacho Rodriguez, vicepresidente del Congreso.
Jornada del sábado, 26 de junio
El programa del sábado se presenta igualmente estructurado en dos bloques científicos. El bloque de mañana, dirigido por la SEDO y coordinado por el Dr. José Luis Gandía y el Dr. Juan Carlos Pérez-Varela, presidente de la SEDO, dará comienzo con una sesión a cargo de los Dres. Manuel Román y Arturo Vela, en la que se presentarán diferentes casos clínicos complejos tratados con alineadores para explicar sus indicaciones y la secuencia de tratamiento de los mismos.
Seguidamente, la Dra. Vanessa Paredes, tratará un tema de máxima actualidad, como es el uso de los microtornillos en los tratamientos de ortodoncia, a partir de la exposición de numerosos casos clínicos en los que ofrecerá indicaciones y recomendaciones en el uso de esta tecnología
El Dr. Juan Carlos Pérez-Varela, actual presidente de la SEDO, hablará sobre las nuevas fronteras en el tratamiento de las maloclusiones esqueléticas en jóvenes y adultos, y, el bloque de ortodoncia, concluirá con la intervención del Dr. Enrique Solano, sobre el flujo digital en el tratamiento interdisciplinar en el frente estético anterior.
En esta ocasión, la mesa redonda de cierre estará moderada por el Dr. Juan Carlos Pérez-Varela, y el Dr. José Luis Gandía, coordinador de la sesión de ortodoncia del Congreso.
El bloque de tarde, liderado por la Asociación Española de Endodoncia, AEDE, estará dirigido y coordinado por su presidente, el Dr. Leopoldo Forner. En estas sesiones participará el Dr. José Aranguren, que ofrecerá la conferencia “límite de la endodoncia” en la que presentará la resolución de distintos casos complejos con excelentes resultados. Otros temas de gran interés del programa de tarde son el que desarrollará el Dr. José María Malfaz, sobre la utilización del CBCT en los tratamientos de endodocia, y el del Dr. Borja Zabalegui, que cerrará el bloque dedicado a la endodoncia con una brillante conferencia sobre el significado clínico del endohueso.
La sesión finalizará con una mesa redonda coordinada por el Dr. Leopoldo Forner, que dará paso a un cóctail de honor para todas las autoridades, conferenciantes y asistentes, que servirá de cierre de este primer EXPODENTAL SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS.
