World Heritage Sites
A crossroads of roads and cultures, the Region of Madrid is a protagonist of universal history, and four enclaves shine with their own light. Alcalá de Henares, the birthplace of Cervantes, awaits you with its medieval streets and squares; its University, the driving force that floods the city with culture; remains from Roman times; the protected natural area of Los Cerros de Alcalá and, in October, the Cervantes Week, a unique cultural and leisure event. On its part, the Monastery and Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial will make you feel like you are at the court of the great monarchs of our history. Aranjuez, the spring residence of the Bourbons, where in addition to the Palace and its gardens, you will enjoy the natural landscape of the banks of the Tagus River and the historical groves and orchards, which once filled the Court's pantries. And Hayedo de Montejo, an ancient beech grove of unique landscape and ecological richness, at the foot of the Sierra de Ayllón.
