On Tuesday 26 November, the latest #mecomprounaobra gets under way, the initiative that Fundación ARCO makes available to the public to buy works of contemporary art for a value of up to 2,020 euros.
For a period of one month, from 26 November to 26 December, those who wish to start collecting contemporary art will have the opportunity to acquire works offered by European galleries participating in the next ARCOmadrid, through the platform koyac.net. People who purchase work within the framework of this project will receive two invitations to attend the fair, which will be held from 26 February to 1 March at the IFEMA Exhibition Centre.
The public can choose from around 100 pieces by Spanish artists such as Luis Gordillo, Eugenio Ampudia, Cristina Garrido, Asier Mendizabal and Elena Aitzkoa and international artists including José Pedro Croft, Liliana Porter, Wilfredo Prieto, Thomas Zipp, Katinka Bock and Peter Krauskopf.
This initiative, which will be extended to all participating galleries during the celebration of the fair, is an action by Fundación ARCO in its objective of promoting contemporary art and collecting.
KOYAC, which is an acronym for “Kicking off young art-collecting”, is a project that seeks to approach and promote art collecting on a new scale in order to offer the public a curated selection of pieces that do not exceed 2,500 euros. It is associated with the best contemporary art galleries to offer quality works that make it possible for a new audience to actively approach the art market, and be encouraged to acquire art.
