According to the latest report by the consultancy firm KPMG, which analyses the socio-economic impact of IFEMA for 2019, the institution maintains its position as the second largest economic engine in Madrid, behind Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport.
Last year, IFEMA's activity had an impact of 5,104 million euros on Madrid's finances, 17% more than the previous year, which represents 3.8% of the capital's GDP and 2.2% of the Community of Madrid's GDP. In addition, employment generation reached 39,343 jobs, 5.3% more than in 2018.
By sector, 48.5% of the economic impact of IFEMA's activity was allocated to Hotels and Trade, followed by Transport, with 21.3%, and the Industrial sector, with 12.6%. Regarding the generation of employment, the contribution in Hotels and Trade was 23,456 jobs, 8,855 in Transport and 1,671 jobs in Industry.
