FITUR 4all honours projects that turn accessibility into a tourism asset
The jury, made up of renowned professionals from the tourism industry, rewards scalable, innovative initiatives that are aligned with the quality of the destination.
The III FITUR 4all Awards, organised by IMPULSA IGUALDAD together with FITUR, which recognise destinations, companies and organisations that promote accessible tourism as a criterion of quality and a guarantee of equality in the tourism experience, announce the winning national and international destinations, companies and organisations in the industry.
The awards ceremony being held on 23 January, during FITUR, highlights and honours the best practices that contribute to a more responsible and competitive tourism model that is aligned with the rights of people with disabilities.
The 3rd FITUR 4all Awards recognised Visit València Foundation as an Inclusive National Destination, Montevideo Tourism Division as an Inclusive International Destination, Viajes El Corte Inglés as an Inclusive Company and SEGITTUR as an Inclusive Organisation. Four initiatives that stand out for embedding accessibility transversally into their management model and for understanding it as a strategic factor of competitiveness and tourism quality.
In its appraisal, the jury took into account the scalability of the initiatives; the training of professionals; the soundness of the projects' comprehensive strategy; the public-private partnerships; the innovation and originality of the proposals; the impact on standardisation and the processes and commitment to technology as a lever for transformation.
The jury, presided over by Francisco J. Sardón Peláez, president of IMPULSA IGUALDAD, and María Valcarce, director of FITUR, is made up of renowned professionals from the fields of tourism, academia and innovation.
In addition to the award-winning projects, and with the aim of giving visibility to the greatest possible number of initiatives that are raising the standard of accessible tourism, the jury also recognised the second and third prize-winners of this year’s edition. In the category of Inclusive National Destination, the winners were the Catalan Tourist Board and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia; in Inclusive International Destination, the Colombian Ministry of Tourism and the Costa Rican Tourism Institute; in Inclusive Company, Puntodis and Tifloactiva; and in Inclusive Organisation, the Argentine Chamber of Tourism and REAJ.
All these initiatives share a strategic vision for accessibility linked to quality, innovation and equal opportunities in the tourism experience. In addition, all the initiatives that have passed the competition phase will form part of the 'II Guide to Best Practices in Accessible Tourism by FITUR 4all'.
