International Tourism Fair opens its 46th edition with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen and Mexico as Partner Country
FITUR 2025 takes place from 21 to 25 January at IFEMA MADRID, featuring a full professional agenda following a record-opening day with more than 52,000 visitors
FITUR, the International Tourism Fair organized by IFEMA MADRID, has officially opened its 46th edition with the attendance of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain. They were welcomed by José Vicente de los Mozos, Chair of IFEMA MADRID’s Executive Committee; Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid; Jordi Hereu, Spain’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism; and José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, alongside a wide delegation of national and regional authorities, ministers, government representatives and tourism industry leaders from around the world.
During the opening ceremony, the authorities toured several pavilions at the IFEMA MADRID exhibition centre to learn about the proposals presented by companies and destinations participating in FITUR 2026. Among the most prominent spaces was Mexico, located in Hall 3, which is taking part this year as the Partner Country. Accompanied by senior Mexican officials, Mexico’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the Mexican Ambassador to Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, welcomed Their Majesties at the country’s stand.
The visit also included the Knowledge Hub, located in Hall 12, where more than 250 experts from around the world are contributing to the dissemination of best practices and industry knowledge during the professional days—Wednesday 21, Thursday 22 and Friday 23 January—alongside over 190 travel technology companies.
To conclude their visit, Their Majesties signed the book of condolences for the victims of the Adamuz railway accident, located at the Andalusia stand
With more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries taking part—111 of them with official representation—FITUR runs until Sunday, 25 January, occupying nine exhibition halls. Once again, the fair reaffirms its position as the world’s leading global tourism platform, a key meeting point for knowledge exchange, business opportunities and the discovery of destinations from across the globe.
