The FITUR section dedicated to sports tourism is expanding for this second edition, having announced that there will be three days for professionals led by the main players in the tourism and sports industry.

The stand space will feature a paddle tennis court and an agenda of activities during the weekend.

FITUR Sports 2024 is the section dedicated to sports tourism at FITUR 2024, the International Tourism Trade Fair to be held from 24 to 28 January organised by IFEMA MADRID. The section has announced that its programme will focus on three main content themes: Outdoor Sports, Competitive Sports and Sports Events & Sports Business Travel.

FITUR Sports will grow significantly in its second edition, in line with the importance of sports tourism in Spain and the world. It’s set to become one of the most important events of the year, as the main players, organisations and professionals who make up the tourism and sports industry have shown keen interest in it.

To meet this growth, it has extended its calendar, adding three professional days (24-26 January). It will also feature a programme of talks and round tables led by the best experts in tourism and sport, who will address the pressing issues and latest trends in the industry, creating spaces for knowledge-sharing and for generating business opportunities. Meanwhile, professionals will have the chance to interact in the networking area, with exhibitors' tables and work meetings.

On Wednesday the 24th, FITUR Sports 2024 will be dedicated to Outdoor Sports, covering everything from trends in active and adventure sports tourism, destination management and the management of Next Generation funds, to the development and marketing of products that promote certain destinations, such as surfing, water sports, running, trail running, triathlons, cycling, mountain and winter sports, etc., meeting the challenges of social integration, sustainability and accessibility.

On Thursday the 25th, the conference will focus on Competitive Sports, analysing the needs of professional and elite athletes and teams from different angles: sports tourism in cities, the impact of professional leagues, professional team travel, travel for sports-related medical reasons, trends in the organisation and marketing of training camps and tournaments, hotel models and the sports resorts of the future.

To conclude the professional days, on Friday 26 January, FITUR Sports 2024 will cover topics related to Sports Events & Sports Business Travel, covering major sporting events aimed at the audiences of both sporting events and participatory sports, such as marathons. Trends in sports marketing and corporate travel in the MICE sports segment will also be discussed.

In addition, FITUR Sports 2024 will maintain its momentum throughout the weekend by opening its monographic section on sports tourism to visitors. This section will highlight the padel tennis trend and how this sport is becoming an asset and ally of the tourism industry by setting up a stunning padel tennis court, which will host exhibition matches and clinics with renowned players and coaches, as well as sports content for the final general public.

Thanks to the growing popularity of paddle tennis, sports facilities are being modernised and tourist resorts are providing new offerings for lovers of this sport, which is all complemented by an extensive calendar of paddle tennis competitions and events throughout the territory that are gaining more and more followers.

FITUR Sports is organised with the collaboration of AFYDAD, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Distributors of Sporting Goods, and counts on the invaluable support of its sponsors and collaborators that have been confirmed to date, classified into three categories:
