The FITUR Active Tourism Awards announce the four winning initiatives at its 31st edition
This annual event, organised by FITUR and AireLibre Magazine, promotes the development of innovative and sustainable active tourism products.
The International Tourism Trade Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID, presents the winning initiatives of the 31st FITUR Active Tourism Awards, promoted in collaboration with AireLibre Magazine. These awards promote the development and marketing of active tourism products, both at a national and international level.
The FITUR Active Tourism Awards shine a light on trailblazing active tourism products that are of interest to both the distribution channel and the end consumer.
In its assessment, the jury analyses the newness and innovation of the product, its contribution to sustainable tourism development in its economic, environmental and social aspects and the quality of its image and marketing elements.
National category
- ‘Huesca the magic of adventure'. Huesca is positioned as a reference in active tourism, integrating mountains, water, air and snow in unique experiences all year round. Under a sustainable and professional approach, it highlights the diversity of the territory and the quality of local businesses, providing adventures in high-value natural environments, such as mountains and valleys, and promoting responsible adventure tourism.
- ‘L'arròs de Castelldefels Enogastronomic Experience' presents an immersive food and wine experience that fuses cultural tourism, gastronomy and sustainability and allows visitors to discover, understand and taste local products. Through visits to sustainable orchards and fish markets, and the preparation of the famous Castelldefels rice, a unique experience that connects the territory with its cuisine, reinforcing the local identity.
International category
- ‘Birding Route of Northeastern Mexico'. This Nuevo León ecotourism project specialising in birdwatching encompasses the landscapes of the Sierra Madre Oriental, linking the Chihuahuan Desert Ecoregion, the high mountain forests and the Mexican Gulf Coastal Plain. It stands out for its commitment to sustainability and active conservation, integrating low environmental impact activities, promoting citizen science and generating economic benefits for local communities. The event culminates with the Northeast Birding Festival, which has become established as an international benchmark in birdwatching.
- ‘Festa de Caminhadas na Arrábida' is a nature tourism event offering hiking trails that allow you to explore the natural beauty and heritage of one of Portugal's most important natural parks. Held in May 2024 and 2025 with the collaboration of tour operators from the region, it featured thirty routes of varying difficulty, highlighting the importance of sustainability and the connection with the cultural identity of the territory. Setúbal thus invites travellers to discover the richness of the Arrábida Natural Park and to enjoy unique experiences in direct contact with nature.
The winners will be awarded an accreditation diploma on their stand at FITUR 2026, which is taking place from 21 to 25 January at IFEMA MADRID.
