Santi Jiménez: "The Ugandan stand at FITUR was replete with visitors and meetings"
"Uganda's participation in FITUR 2026 has been very positive, because it has enabled us not only to make the destination known to the media, but also to travel agencies in Latin America," says Santi Jiménez Godino, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda in Barcelona. In addition, he explains, "Tour operators, embassy staff and myself received a non-stop flow of visitors and held meetings throughout the event."
What positive outcomes have been yielded from Uganda's participation in FITUR 2026?
It has been very positive, because it has enabled us not only to make the destination known to the media, but also to travel agencies in Latin America.
How did visitors react to your stand?
We haven't been able to record the final number of visitors or business meetings we had yet because, frankly, the tour operators, the Embassy staff and myself received a non-stop flow of visitors and held meetings throughout the event.
What were some of the highlights of your engagement with the general public?
Activities included Ugandan coffee and Ugandan gin tasting sessions, which were well received by the visitors.
Which of Uganda's attractions were visitors to your stand able to see?
Uganda is an uncrowded destination with a wide variety of wildlife, mammals and birds, where visitors are warmly welcomed and their visit can be considered , quite literally, the trip of a lifetime.
We are committed to sustainable and uncrowded tourism, allowing travellers to explore all the facets of Uganda: wildlife, 52 tribes, each with their own language and traditions, breathtaking landscapes and lush nature.
How will your presence at FITUR 2026 contribute to making Uganda more popular with tourists?
The presence of media interested in raising awareness of Uganda; the surprise of visitors when they learn about the country's rich and diverse wildlife, and the friendliness of Ugandans are all bound to make Uganda a popular destination.
