Honduran Minister of Tourism: Spain and Europe are priority markets in Honduras' international strategy. Our presence at FITUR 2026 will be of great importance.
According to Honduras Minister of Tourism, Yadira Esther Gómez Chavarría, Spain and Europe are priority markets within its international strategy, which is why the country’s presence at FITUR 2026 is so important.
"Being present at FITUR allows us to strengthen the promotion of our tourism offer to highly specialised buyers, international media and key industry players." "The Honduras stand will feature artistic presentations, the participation of a barista and a mixologist who will be offering tastings and showcasing products such as Honduran coffee and cocoa."
What does the Spanish and European market represent for Honduran tourism and how significant is participation in FITUR 2026 for your country?
Honduras' participation in FITUR 2026 is of the utmost importance for the country, as Spain and Europe represent priority markets within our international strategy. Being present at this trade fair allows us to strengthen the promotion of our tourism offer to highly specialised buyers, international media and key industry players.
In addition, Honduras has managed to increase the participation of industry businesses, which facilitates a greater generation of contacts, business opportunities and commercial agreements that have a direct impact on tourist arrivals. FITUR is a strategic platform to position our tourism products, such as archaeology, nature, living culture and sun and beach, and to reinforce the image of Honduras as a diverse, competitive and growing destination to the European market.
What will visitors to your stand at the trade fair be able to find out about?
Honduras will be presenting a diverse offer at FITUR that reflects the country's cultural and natural wealth. Among the main attractions to be promoted are archaeology, with iconic destinations such as the Copán Ruins; colonial tourism, exemplified by historic cities such as Gracias and Comayagua; as well as nature and adventure in La Ceiba and its national parks. Sun and sand tourism on islands such as Roatan and Utila, and living cultures, especially the Garifuna culture, renowned for its unique music, gastronomy and traditions, will also be promoted. This variety allows Honduras to position itself as a complete and internationally competitive destination.
What other experiences and activities will you be offering?
Honduras, as every year, seeks to attract the attention of visitors at FITUR through innovative experiences. For this edition, the stand will feature artistic presentations, the participation of a barista and, for the first time, a mixologist, with the aim of offering tastings and showcasing the country's iconic products such as Honduran coffee and cocoa. These actions are aimed at strengthening the identity of the destination and generating a closer connection with visitors.
