Appearance at the 2nd Iberian Sector Conference - "Challenges and opportunities for the sector” - at the headquarters of Extremadura Avante in Mérida. This time, the fair features IbéricoLand, a new monographic area for Iberian-sector companies and a monographic space for Iberian products within B2Meat, the b2b meetings for exhibitors and international buyers.

Raúl Calleja, director of Meat Attraction and the Food and Agricultural Fair Department at IFEMA, addressed a large audience of representatives from Extremadura's Iberian sector to explain the institution's commitment to the industry and the initiatives being organised by the international trade show for the meat industry to promote the internationalisation of Spanish companies.

This initiative was organised within the framework of the 2nd Iberian Sector Conference (II Jornadas del Sector Ibérico) - "Challenges and opportunities for the sector” - held in Mérida, organised by the Interprofessional Iberian Pork Association (ASICI - Asociación Interprofesional del Cerdo Ibérico), Extremadura Avante, Junta de Extremadura and Meat Attraction.

In his speech, Raúl Calleja said that the fair is an instrument for the meat industry whose ultimate aim is to make Spain and its industries a major international hub for meat product marketing by offering a hyper-specialised monographic event for the entire meat value chain, whose main objective is to boost sales for exhibiting companies, through Marketing, Innovation and Knowledge.

The Director of Meat Attraction told his audience of entrepreneurs that as well as the group participation launched by Extremadura Avante in previous years, this time, Meat Attraction will feature IbéricoLand, a new monographic, specialised area for companies that market Iberian Pork Products, to give these foodstuffs, which are an essential part of our gastronomy, their own identity, by inviting interested companies to participate as exhibitors in this area.

He also talked about the monographic Iberian space within B2Meat, the b2b meetings between exhibitors and international buyers, on Tuesday, 17 September in Hall 10, and explained the buyers program whereby exhibitors can personally invite contacts and potential customers whose travel and accommodation expenses are then paid by IFEMA.

The conference was presented and closed by the general manager of Extremadura Avante, Miguel Bernal, who stressed the need to continue internationalising this pivotal sector and listed the many tools that this public institution makes available to Extremadura companies for this purpose. He also reiterated that Extremadura Avante has been firmly committed to Meat Attraction since the first edition of the fair.

The president of ASICI, Antonio Prieto, and the General Director of Agriculture and Livestock of Junta de Extremadura (Agricultura y Gandería de la Junta de Extremadura), Antonio Cabezas, also participated in the presentation of the seminar, which included speeches by the managing director of ASICI, Andrés Paredes, and the head of the Agricultural Food Quality service of the Ministry of Environment and Rural, Agrarian Policy and Planning (Calidad Agropecuaria y Alimentaria de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente y Rural, Políticas Agrarias y Territorio), Maria Curiel, who analysed the situation of the sector and the Iberian Pork Quality Standard (Norma de Calidad del Ibérico) and the deputy general manager of sanitary agreements and Border Control of the Ministerio de Agricultura , Fisheries and Food (Acuerdos Sanitarios y Control en Frontera del Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación), Miguel Ángel Martín, who talked about penetrating new markets and the challenges facing exporters.

Meat Attraction, the specialised professional trade fair for the Spanish meat industry, will take place for the third time from 17 to 19 September, organised by IFEMA and the National Meat Processing Industries Association of Spain (ANICE - Asociación Nacional de Industrias de la Carne de España). The fair is expecting 400 exhibitors and 20,000 professionals from 50 countries, and has a wide variety of tools which create business opportunities and value for exhibitors.

This edition will be packed with interesting events and activities, such as the 10th Global Ham Congress (X Congreso Mundial del Jamón), the second edition of #Distrimeat , the European Meat Distribution Congress (Congreso Europeo de la Distribución Cárnica), the Meat & Organic Congress or Meatic, the Conference on Automation and Digitalisation in the Industry (Jornadas de Automatización y Digitalización en la Industria), the Innovation Hub, the directory of new products and flagship products of all fair exhibitors and the Accelera Innovation Awards , as well as other activities such as Meat Week (Semana de la Carne), Chef Factory (Factoría Chef) and Butcher's Day (Día del Carnicero).
