Animal welfare is a growing concern for consumers, who not only demand healthier and safer food, but also food treated with practices that ensure adequate animal protection

Animal welfare is articulated in three points: on the farm, during transport and at the time of slaughter.

Within the applicable legislative framework Council Regulation (EC) No. 1099/2009 of 24 September 2009 on the protection of animals at the time of slaughter, which has been applicable since January 1, 2013. Like all other animal welfare regulations, it aims to ensure that any unnecessary pain or suffering is avoided, always based on the latest scientific information available.

IMACSA has considered going further, becoming certified in Animal Welfare with voluntary standards such as the Interporc technical regulation and the European Welfare Quality and AWIN standards, with the aim of offering all the confidence to its customers and consumers.
