National Bakery Championship Returns to InterSICOP

Nine contenders will take part in the competition, organised by CEOPPAN.

InterSICOP, the International Bakery, Confectionery, Ice Cream, Coffee & Equipment Fair organised by IFEMA MADRID from 19th to 22nd February 2022, will host the National Artisan Bakery Championship again this year.

It is organised by the Spanish Confederation of Bakery, Pastry & Related Industries (CEOPPAN). It aims to attract new members to the National Artisan Bakery Team (Los Espigas).

Candidates will have to perform three tests during the competition: bread (traditional bread, different rolls and savoury snacks), pastries (sweet or savoury sourdough) and an artistic piece on the theme “Element, monument, building, or image that represents your region.”

The nine contenders this time are:

  • Alex López, Panadería Repostería Alex, León
  • Diego Marín, Pan Demonium, Vigo
  • Tatiana Figueroa, IES Peñacastillo, Cantabria
  • Gustavo Orts, La Tahona – El Corte Inglés, Alicante
  • José Antonio Cerpa, Obrador Cerpa y Porta, Cádiz
  • Raquel López Van Beek, Obrador Beekery, Alicante
  • Samuel Suárez, La Panadería-Alimerka, Asturias
