Eduardo Villar has been chosen as the president of the Spanish Confederation of Bakery, Pastry, Pastry and Related Products (CEOPPAN), replacing Andreu Llargués.
Villar, president of the La Rioja Association of Bread and Related Manufacturers-Vendors (Arfepan), owner of Horno Arguiñano and until now vice president of the Confederation, has taken bakery courses in Switzerland, Germany and Italy, and has travelled throughout Europe to participate in different healthy bread projects. His goal as the new president is to unify the baking world as a whole, raise the prestige of the craft, attract young people to the profession, and emphasise artisanal methods.
Among many other initiatives, he has created a group of technological advisers, made up of Carlos Mariel, Jordi Morera, José Roldán and Domi Vélez, to advise on issues related to baking and training schools. “With the changes that are taking place in the world of baking, diverse opinions are needed, as well as points of consensus, to be able to offer responses to both the ministry and Brussels on the issues that they ask us about,” he says.
