In 2015, Francisco Fraga, the third generation of a family of bakers, opened Costumes Empanadas de Galicia, which produces artisanal empanadas with 100% natural ingredients of numerous varieties: tuna, meat, cod, chicken and mushrooms, cockles, mussels, sardines, scallops, octopus, etc. During these years, the business, located in the Bértoa Industrial District (Carballo, A Coruña), has become one of the top ambassadors for the Galician empanada, since it distributes wholesale to bakeries, pastry shops and catering establishments throughout Spain.
The secret of its success is to use high quality ingredients and a manual process in which careful attention is given to each phase, from the peeling and poaching of the onion to the seasoning sauces and fillings made with raw materials from the countryside and extra virgin olive oil. After the empanadas are made, no preservatives are added to them. They are delivered frozen, and to enjoy them you only have to cook them for 45 minutes in the oven at 180ºC.
