UVAS DOCE grows in number of productive hectares
The imminent 2022 campaign brings with it many new developments that outline the near future of Uvasdoce. Growth, modernization, new varieties and difficulties with the supply of materials are some of the key issues of this season.
Uvasdoce is growing in the number of productive hectares thanks to the planting of a new estate that extends over more than 40 hectares. This new land is located in the heart of the Vinalopó Valley and very close to its work center, a privileged area for the cultivation of table grapes.
It has been baptized as 'Finca Uvasdoce', paying tribute to its own name and becoming its main estate for its size, for the amount of novelties in terms of varieties and other projects that will not leave anyone indifferent. In addition, it increases the production of many of its most popular seedless grape varieties such as Sweet Celebration™, Sweet Globe™, Cotton Candy™...
The new planting will mean an increase in kilos of production of 30% between 2023 and 2024. To be able to work this increase, the Alicante entity has invested, at the same time, in the expansion and modernization of its current work center in Monforte del Cid, acquiring a new state-of-the-art production line from the English company MARCO LIMITED, specialist in solutions that improve the productivity of large companies, which has generated more than 100 new jobs in two shifts, in addition to modernizing with the same system two of its more traditional lines. It has also expanded its high-performance cold storage space by 600 m2.
This new panorama offers opportunities to open up new markets with great attractions for them. In previous years, Uvasdoce has targeted the domestic and international market in equal parts, focusing on the United Kingdom, Central Europe and South Africa, and large surfaces in the domestic market. However, thanks to the increase in the number of kilos produced and the high demand for its products, Uvasdoce will be able to target different Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, etc., where it had started its activity, but where it had not been able to deliver large quantities of its essential seedless grapes.
Other destinations that are generating a lot of interest are on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, where they have not ventured to go so far, due to the fact that the demand for proximity of their loyal customers exhausted the stocks so far.
In short, there are many novelties that are presented for this campaign 2022, having as a battle horse the rise in prices and the lack of raw materials (cardboard, plastics), a reality that affects all sectors in general, but more particularly the fruit and vegetable sector.
