FNM will once again attend fruit attraction to present its strawberry and raspberry variety catalog
In little more than two decades since its incorporation, the Spanish company Fresas Nuevos Materiales S. A. (FNM) has managed to position itself as a major player in the breeding of strawberry varieties, offering a wide catalog of varieties and positioning 'Primoris fnm`, 'Rábida fnm`, 'Rociera fnm` and more recently 'Marisma fnm` as the most appreciated varieties in the main European markets.
Annually, FNM dedicates approximately 90% of the investment made in R&D&I, reinvesting its profits in the sector itself and allowing us to expand the current lines of research. As a result of this effort to diversify the current lines of business, in 2013 FNM started its activity in the breeding of out-of-season strawberry raspberry varieties.
In this edition of Fruitattraction and despite the fact that the event does not coincide with the fruit production period of our main short-day varieties, we will have the possibility to show fruit of our day-neutral variety, 'Rikas fnm`. This is a variety adapted to fruit production in summer and at any time of the year with plantings made with potted plants. Rikas fnm` stands out from other flowering varieties for its conical, medium-sized fruit and exceptional post-harvest performance, characteristics that are highly appreciated for summer production and that those attending the fair will be able to see at our stand located in pavilion 9.
Likewise, coinciding with the beginning of the raspberry fruit production season in the province of Huelva, we will show fruit of our first reflowering raspberry variety 'Noelia fnm' at the fair. We estimate that for the next fruit production season we will double the area dedicated to the production of 'Noelia fnm` fruit in the province of Huelva (Spain), which would represent approximately 6-7% market share in its second year of commercialization. It is an early and highly productive variety that can be easily recognized in the market for its light red color and large fruit size. Correct management of planting dates will allow its presence in the market throughout the year, although it is recommended for early summer plantings and autumn-winter production in primocanes and spring production in floricanes.
FNM will be present one more year in Fruitattraction with the intention of showing to the attendees the latest materials developed in our breeding program, we are waiting for you in our Stand 9H01E.
