The fair will hold an extraordinary and unique edition from 20 to 22 October

• In a survey carried out by IFEMA, 68% of domestic visitors and 58% of the international segment have already planned their visit to the fruit and vegetable sector’s signature event.

“Celebrating Fruit Attraction, we will be there. How could we not go?”, is the phrase that sums up the majority’s message in the survey carried out by the IFEMA Contact Centre in relation to the intention of visitors to attend the fruit and vegetable sector’s signature event, which will put on an extraordinary and unique edition in person from 20 to 22 October.

The survey - done in early June using a database of last edition’s visitors: 2,876 visitors from the Iberian Peninsula, and 713 attendees from Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, all engaged in retail activity (supermarket, hypermarket, retail), importing/exporting or wholesale - concludes that 68% of those visitors from Spain, and 58% of Europeans, do plan to attend the fair in person. Similarly, 31% and 38%, respectively, state that their attendance will depend on the evolution of the epidemiological situation, and only 1%, and 4% in the European case, have confirmed that they will not physically attend.

“The confirmation of a new edition of Fruit Attraction, in the complicated scenario we are experiencing, is great news. This fair is the ideal place to discover all the innovation that is taking place on Spanish farms, and this year it is, indeed, more important than ever”,  affirms   Aurelio del Pino, President of ACES - Spanish Association of Supermarkets.

Distribution is strengthening its commitment to and recognition of fruit and vegetable production within the Fruit Attraction framework, extolling the role of the event as a commercial venue, the setting to discover the latest developments, a meeting place for the industry, and the campaign’s commercial launch right in the most important month: October. Along these lines, Felipe Medina Martín, General Technical Secretary of ASEDAS - Spanish Association of Distributors, Self-Service Shops and Supermarkets - confirms that "Food distribution companies, who are strategic allies in the fruit and vegetable sector, will be at Fruit Attraction for another year".

At 120 days to Fruit Attraction’s face-to-face event, we have been able to confirm the industry’s confidence in the fair, the goal of which is to serve as leverage to promote the reconstruction of international business relationships in the fruit and vegetable sector. To this we can add the positive and controlled evolution of the situation in Spain and the re-authorisation of mobility both within the country and within the Schengen area as of 21 June (1 July with Portugal). Similarly, since last Saturday, 20 June, authorisation for the holding of fairs has been approved by the Community of Madrid ( http://www.bocm.es/boletin/CM_Orden_BOCM/2020/06/20/BOCM-20200620-11 .PDF ).

Fruit Attraction 2020, organised by IFEMA and FEPEX, will take place in Madrid from Tuesday the 20th to Thursday the 22nd of October, from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm, and until 5:00 pm on the last day.
