The World Fresh Forum to examine opportunities for the Spanish fruit and vegetable industry in Indonesia
The World Fresh Forum, which will be showcasing the business opportunities and commercial challenges in Indonesia, India and Kenya, is taking place once again this year as part of Fruit Attraction. Organised by ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, the Forum will begin on 21 September at 9.00 am via Zoom and will be dedicated to Indonesia.
According to ICEX, Indonesia is one of the South-East Asian markets with the greatest growth potential for the Spanish fruit and vegetable industry, although its presence there is still very limited. With a population of over 285 million, a growing middle class and a steady rise in the consumption of healthy foods, it offers attractive opportunities for premium products, particularly high-quality fresh fruit and certain vegetables with high added value. However, market access continues to be conditioned by significant regulatory, phytosanitary and logistical barriers.
Spanish exports of agri-food products to Indonesia totalled approximately 53 million euros in 2024. The conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (EU-Indonesia CEPA) would represent a critical milestone for the industry, insofar as it would remove a large proportion of the tariff barriers and phytosanitary barriers currently in place.
The webinar will be examining the main opportunities for the industry and the access and regulatory requirements it must meet. The advice and recommendations of industry professionals, which could be key to establishing a position in the premium segment, will also be discussed.
The 18th edition of the trade fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX is taking place from 6 to 8 October, with attendance figures expected to exceed 2,500 companies, with 162,000 square metres of exhibition space and around 121,000 professionals from 150 countries, consolidating its position as one of the industry’s leading international events.
