The World Fresh Forum to examine opportunities for the Spanish fruit and vegetable industry in India
The World Fresh Forum, which will be showcasing the business opportunities and commercial challenges in Indonesia, India and Kenya, is taking place once again this year as part of Fruit Attraction. Organised by ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, the Forum is hosting the session dedicated to India on 22 September at 9.00 am via Zoom
According to ICEX, India is one of the markets with the greatest growth potential for the Spanish fruit and vegetable industry in the medium and long term. Although Spanish exports remain modest compared with other Asian markets, the combination of rising incomes, urbanisation, the expansion of modern retail and the recent conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the EU and India presents a very favourable outlook for Spanish companies.
In 2025, Spanish fruit and vegetable exports sat below 12 million euros. Nevertheless, there was steady growth in both the volume and value of this trade flow. The main opportunities for the industry lie in citrus fruits, kiwis, stone fruit and table grapes. However, the significant restrictions that had existed until now – both tariff and regulatory – made this market a challenging export destination.
The recent signing of the FTA, which is expected to come into force in the coming months, will open up new opportunities in the next few years. The webinar will analyse current and future market access conditions and highlight key areas of opportunity where Spanish companies should position themselves. We will be joined on this occasion by representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and of the Economy, Trade and Enterprise. And also from the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in New Delhi.
The 18th edition of the trade fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX is taking place from 6 to 8 October, with attendance figures expected to exceed 2,500 companies, with 162,000 square metres of exhibition space and around 121,000 professionals from 150 countries, consolidating its position as one of the industry’s leading international events.
