ARCOmadrid has presented the Elvira González Gallery with the 2nd Juana de Aizpuru Award in recognition of its longstanding history and commitment to the contemporary art fair.

"We are very honoured to receive this award for the work of the gallery and the gallery profession," say Elvira and Isabel Mignoni, directors of the gallery. "ARCO is a home for us, the best platform we have had both nationally and internationally and receiving further strengthens our bond with the fair in our city.”

The Elvira González Gallery opened its doors in Madrid in February 1994. Founded by Elvira González, now a leading figure in Spanish gallery practice after directing Galería Theo for 30 years, the gallery is currently run by her daughters Elvira Mignoni and Isabel Mignoni. Specialising in modern and contemporary European and American art, its track record includes exhibitions by key artists such as Mark Rothko, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Donald Judd, Dan Flavin, Sol LeWitt, Gego, Robert Mapplethorpe or Michelangelo Pistoletto, as well as established figures in contemporary art such as Olafur Eliasson, Miquel Barceló, Chema Madoz or Juan Uslé, among others.

The gallery also collaborates with leading museums and cultural institutions, has an extensive collection of works by established 20th and 21st century artists and advises on the creation of private and institutional collections.

The presentation ceremony for the 2nd Juana de Aizpuru Award will take place on Friday 6 March, at 1.00 pm. at the ARCO Forum (booth 9A32).

Organized by IFEMA MADRID; the International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCO, will be held from 4 to 8 March in halls 7 and 9 at IFEMA MADRID.
