2026 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER SPANISH GRAND PRIX, in collaboration with ARCOmadrid is launching a call for ideas for the design of the trophy in its first edition.

2026 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER SPANISH GRAND PRIX is committed to culture and creativity through an artistic competition that will shape the trophy for its first edition, to be held from11 to 13 September 2026 in Madrid.

The initiative, promoted by IFEMA MADRID, brings together the worlds of contemporary art and Formula 1 through ARCOmadrid, Spain’s leading international contemporary art fair. The competition is open to national and international artists represented by galleries participating in ARCOmadrid 2026. These galleries, will be responsible for submitting applications and inviting their artists to take part.

Each gallery may submit up to two artists, and registration will be carried out exclusively through the galleries themselves.

Two-stage selection process and specialised jury

The selection process will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, which will close in mid-January, the submitted proposals will be assessed, resulting in the preselection of 20 finalist artists.

These artists will move on to a second phase, where they will further develop their trophy proposal, covering the artistic concept, technical specifications, materials, a scale model and production feasibility.

The jury will be composed of five members, mainly from the field of contemporary art, together with representatives linked to the world of Formula 1, thus ensuring synergy between artistic creativity, cultural identity and the requirements of a global-scale sporting event.

The final decision will be subject to the approval of Formula One Management.

A trophy with its own identity

The trophy design should reflect values such as sophistication, innovation, sustainability, quality and Madrid’s cultural tradition, while also respecting the identity and principles of Formula 1® and MADRING.

The winning artist will be responsible for the production of the official trophies (Winner, Builder, second and third place), within a maximum budget established by the organisation.

Winner's proclamation ceremony

The winner of the competition will be announced on 26 February, at a ceremony to be held as part of ARCOmadrid, reinforcing the link between the Spanish Grand Prix and one of the main international showcases for contemporary art.

In addition to the symbolic recognition of signing the trophy of the first Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix in Madrid, the winning artist will receive a financial award, as will the 20 selected finalists.

With this competition, the 2026 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER SPANISH GRAND PRIX strengthens its commitment to going beyond on-track activity and turning every element of the Grand Prix into an expression of Madrid’s identity and culture.
