Opaulo, Evru. Galería Senda, Stand 9B21. Media May Rewind Reality, Peter Weibel. Galería Beckers + Kornfeld, Stand 7A13.

This edition of the ARCO/BEEP Award acknowledges the trajectory of two contemporary art pioneers, authentic icons of creation both generated from technological developments and capable of founding extraordinary symbolic worlds. Thus the .NewArt { collection;}, formerly known as the Beep Collection, rewards these artists with an unquestionable international trajectory. Evru/Zush anticipates, in a certain sense, the metaverse and connects post-surrealist drawing with territories of the imagination that trigger thinking beyond the norm; the piece acquired by the .NewArt { collection;}, formerly known as the Beep Collection, is a digital print on fabric, entitled “Opaulo”,with acrylic paint that acts as a pictorial “hybrid” that appears to invite us to change our perspective of a pixeled world. Peter Weibel is a creator and curator who has been decisive in the development of electronic art, creating video pieces, actions and installations that have gone down in the history of the most advanced art. “Rewind-Reality” is a sort of “vanitas” in which the simple image of a candle flame rethinks temporariness and finitude in a loop in which whatever is consumed also grows in a sort of strange spectacle that inverts appearances.

The works of these artists, on being incorporated into the .NewArt { collection;}, formerly known as the Beep Collection, render the genealogy of experimental-electronic art visible, with its complex temporariness and also its unique capacity to awaken an aesthetic experience of contemplation in which we understand that “time is the age of things”.
