In this way, the importance of the trade fair industry is highlighted, which annually holds more than 32,000 events, with an impact on world GDP of 167,000 million euros, serving as an influence for the dynamization of the economy and the promotion of business in all economic sectors

IFEMA shows its support for the campaign 'This Expo/Show is open', organized by the Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO), and promoted by the Association of Spanish Trade Fairs (AFE), in support of the trade fair and congress sector worldwide due to the postponement and cancellation of important events worldwide, following the recommendations of the competent health authorities due to the proliferation of COVID-19.

This way, IFEMA wants to show the importance of fairs and professional events that annually take place in its venues in Madrid, for the development of the economy and the strengthening of business in many economic sectors. The world's trade fair industry supports 3.2 million jobs and contributes 167 billion euros to the world's GDP. In Spain, this activity is materialized in 600 annual fairs, with 60,000 exhibiting companies and 8 million visitors.

Recently, IFEMA has held important fairs of a markedly international nature, such as ARCOmadrid or SICUR, and new editions of Iberzoo+ Propet and The Education Week are currently being held, all of them with total normality. The Institution is in contact with the Ministry of Health, as well as trade fair promoters, to follow the relevant recommendations and act accordingly whenever necessary. In addition, IFEMA has implemented preventive measures, strengthening the signage of the two medical service units, reinforcing the dissemination of WHO recommendations, and expanding hygiene and cleaning measures throughout the venue.
