Yesterday, the Centro Conde Duque de Madrid hosted the award ceremony for the 5th Salón Look Awards, promoted by Salón Look Madrid, the Comprehensive Beauty and Aesthetics Show, the Iberian Peninsula's major Beauty event, organised by IFEMA.
The aim of these awards is to acknowledge the work and dedication of professionals, companies and institutions in the Hair and Beauty sector who use their creativity and hard work to improve training and business management and provide better promotion and information on comprehensive beauty care and aesthetics.
The award ceremony has become the big party for the sector, bringing together the best beauty and hairdressing professionals in Spain, and on this occasion it was more important than ever, if this is possible, as it was celebrating its fifth anniversary.
The 10 winners, chosen from some thirty finalists, were Lewis Amarante, Best Professional Career in Beauty and Luis Miguel Vecina, Best Professional Career in Hairdressing; Mensajeros de la Paz-Pelobus, Best Charity Action; Idili Lizcano de Alqvimia, Best Business Project in Beauty and Narcís Oriol Quintana, Best Business Project in Hairdressing; Haute Custom Beauty, Best Salon Concept in Beauty and Maison Eduardo Sánchez, Best Salon Concept in Hairdressing; Flash Moda, Best Communication; Consuelo Silveira, Best Training Project in Beauty, and Cebado, Best Training Project in Hairdressing
Lewis Amarante, Best Professional Career in Beauty, is the make-up artist for faces that are known worldwide. Madonna, Nieves Álvarez, Naomi Cambell, Valeria Maza and Adriana Lima as some of the famous women who have passed through his expert hands. Luis Miguel Vecina, Best Professional Career in Hairdressing, is a specialist in creative colouring and team coaching; he was in charge of setting up the first Camille Albane salon in Spain, and in 2012 he started the training company Expertise Education.
Mensajeros de la Paz-Pelobús, winners of the Best Charity Action, is a project sponsored by the Asociación Mensajeros de la Paz, which is chairedby Father Ángel, while the Pelobús is a camper van offering free hairdressing to the homeless or destitute people.
Idili Lizcano of Alqvimia, Best Business Project in Beauty. Thisperfumer, the creator and driving force behind Alqvimia, the high-quality natural cosmetics firm, is one of the top international experts on aromatherapy and her products can be found in the best hotels and spas around the world.
Narcís Oriol Quintana, Best Business Project in Hairdressing, is the creator of Industrias Oriol, one of Spain’s oldest and most outstanding companies in the hair and beauty industry, which this year marks its 75th anniversary. The company has several departments that manufacture and develop hair and beauty products, and an R&D department.
Haute Custom Beauty, Best Salon Concept in Beauty, is a luxury beauty and health salon in Barcelona whose beauty programmes have revolutionised the concept of beauty centres. Maison Eduardo Sánchez, Best Salon Concept in Hairdressing, was the result of Eduardo Sánchez’ passion for the world of hairdressing. The result is an unusual salon that fuses the glamour of high-quality French hairdressing with the innate professionalism of a multicultural team.
In Best Communication, the winner was Flash Moda, the thoughtful fashion and trends programme broadcast weekly by Spanish Television on Saturday and Sunday mornings, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious specialist programmes in the European audiovisual panorama.
The award for Best Training Project in Beauty went to Consuelo Silveira, the director of the eponymous school, where specialists in medicine, dermatology and chemistry give theoretical and practical classes. The winner of the Best Training Project in Hairdressing was Cebado, one of the most important training centres in the world through which over 10,000 students have passed.
In addition, two Honorary Awards were given to Felicidad Carrera and Alberto Cerdán, for their involvement in and personal dedication to the Beauty and Hair sectors, respectively.
The Salon Look 2017 award ceremony was attended by over 200 guests from the Hair and Beauty industry, as well as leading figures from the Regional Government of Madrid and the Madrid City Council. The Region of Madrid was represented by Mª José Pérez Cejuela, director general for Commerce and Consumption, and the Madrid City Council by Concepción Díaz de Villegas, director general for Commerce and Entrepreneurship.
The managing director of IFEMA, Eduardo López-Puertas, addressed the attendees, emphasising the importance of these awards, which started five years ago as part of Salón Look, an event that is considered to be the top business platform for the beauty sector in Spain and which offers a good example of the professional events organized by IFEMA with and for the sector.
On this occasion, the well-known comic Sinacio, introduced and presented the event.

Salón Look 2017: 20 years and 5 exhibition halls
The 2017 edition of Salón Look, the Comprehensive Beauty and Aesthetics Show, which is marking the 20th anniversary since its creation, will be held from 3 to 5 November at Feria de Madrid - from Friday to Sunday. It will offer more firms and content, as well as one more exhibition hall than in previous editions, bringing the total to 5. This allows the exhibition to be organised in a more professional and sector-focused way. Over 400 direct exhibitors are expected to participate along with representatives from more than 1,300 brands.
For professionals interested in attending Salón 2017, on-line registration is now open at www.salonlook.ifema.es. Registration will be free until 30 September; from 1 to 2 October to 2 November, tickets will be 10 euros, a 50 por ciento discount, and from 3 to 5 November, the days on which the exhibition is held, tickets will cost 20 euros.
