MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA MADRID 2019, the Leading International Trade Fair for the Automotive Industry, targeting trade visitors from the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America and North Africa, closed its fifteenth edition, organised by IFEMA, with record-breaking participation. A total of 60,349 automotive sector professionals visited the Trade Fair, which hosted the offering presented by over 700 exhibitor companies and 1,300 brands.
Most of the professionals were from multi-brand repair shops (26.75 por ciento), followed by mechanical shops (20.3 por ciento) and electro-mechanical repair shops (16.16 por ciento). Visitors were also mostly owners of their own repair shops, which points out the professionalism of MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA MADRID 2019, as well as the capability for decisions and the opportunity to purchase among visitors and exhibitors.
On the other hand, visitors interested in Service Stations grew by 19 por ciento regarding 2017, as well as the purchasing groups, providing 20 por ciento more visitors than two years ago.
More attendees and more specialised subjects at the conferences, presentations and activities
The MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA MADRID 2019 program of activities was also a success, with 3,500 participants, 84 por ciento more than in the previous edition, as issues were discussed that are especially relevant to the industry, that define today’s activity and point towards the future, taking into account the technological progress and innovation, another of the highlights of the Trade Fair. In this edition visitors were also shown certain areas of the automotive industry that require more prominence, such as industrial vehicles, tires or the aftermarket Circular Economy. There was wide interest in the First Congress for Industrial Vehicle Repair Shops, the Network of Repair Shops Conference, the Circular Economy Conference, or the conference for official repair shops and tire repair shops and distributors, organised by Faconauto and Adine, respectively.
Acknowledgement of quality and innovation in industry companies
The technical qualification and skills of repair shop professionals were also rewarded in the 15th edition of MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA MADRID, with the competitions for Best Technician MOTORTEC, organised jointly with Carsmarobe; The Truck Challenge, organised jointly with Cojali, or the competitions for Best Young Technician, organised with the Fundación Comforp, which for the first time included a competition specifically for women technicians, which aims to highlight the progressive incorporation of women in repair shops.
The Innovation Gallery of the Fair highlighted the value of 27 products chosen by a specialised jury panel in nine categories. They were exhibited in a central area during MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA MADRID, in addition to receiving the pertinent acknowledgement during the Motortec Gala, chaired by the General Director of IFEMA, Eduardo López-Puertas, accompanied by the Director of the Trade Fair, David Moneo. To celebrate the fifteenth edition of the trade fair, the Gala Motortec also acknowledged the 17 companies that have participated consistently at MOTORTEC since its creation, as well as the associations Sernauto, Ancera, Cetraa, Asetra and Conepa, for their important role in the development of the Trade Fair.
A Trade Fair that highlights the importance of the aftermarket industry for the economy and for society. The ministers of Ecological Transition and of Industry saw first-hand the economic importance and the technological development of the industry, including the latest products on the market that adapt to social changes and to the current environmental requirements that are expected to condition the future, in order to guarantee the mobility of the population. And proof of Motortec’s commitment to the aftermarket industry and to the society that it works for are the studies presented, within the framework of MOTORTEC AUTOMECHANIKA MADRID, by GIPA, Automotive Aftermarket Intelligence, and CETRAA, Spanish Confederation of Repair Shops, on the importance of proper vehicle maintenance to prevent breakdowns, analysing drivers’ behaviour in recent years.
