MBFWMadrid has presented its next edition, featuring new locations, more designers and revamped awards
The fashion extravaganza has added a new day of “OFF-format” shows to be held at the Palacio de Fernán Núñez, completing a five-day line-up of shows by 30 established and ten emerging designers. The awards for National Designer and International Designer, granted by the Madrid City Council, as well as the NARS Icon Award, will be presented during the Official Opening Dinner of MBFWMadrid. At the Closing Party, following the established designers’ shows, the Mercedes-Benz Award for Best Collection, Best Model and Makeup Artist x NARS, will be presented.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, an event organised by IFEMA MADRID with the support of Madrid City Council, is gearing up for a new edition marked by the evolution of its creative ecosystem and a firm commitment to recognising talent at all stages. The upcoming initiative, which will be held from 17 to 22 March, will host proposals from 40 creators over five days and will be held at the Palacio de Cibeles, the Palacio de Fernán Núñez, and Hall 14.1 of IFEMA MADRID.
With a revamped awards system that reinforces the role of the fashion week as a cultural, economic, and aesthetic driver, MBFWMadrid is emphasising its mission to promote both established designers and a new generation of talent, defining the future of Spanish fashion. This edition is consolidating strategic alliances, bringing on new key players and expanding its area of influence through awards that highlight the industry's excellence, innovation, and international projection.
This year, MBFWMadrid maintains the commitment of the Madrid City Council, which strengthens its support and backing for Spanish fashion with these awards and incorporates a new key ally, such as NARS, debuting as the official makeup of the catwalk and will award different prizes, reinforcing the commitment to creativity around image, makeup, and aesthetic expression.
At the presentation held today at Forbes House, Engracia Hidalgo, Delegate of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Finance of the Madrid City Council, stated that “the City Council has an ongoing commitment to merge avant-garde creativity with the capital's cultural heritage, showcasing the most iconic settings of Madrid to the world. These are vibrant places to be enjoyed and host major internationally projected events, enabling us to reinforce the global positioning of the capital, boost the creative industry and consolidate fashion as a relevant aspect of the city brand”.
Meanwhile, Daniel Martínez, executive vice president of IFEMA MADRID, has highlighted that “in this edition, hand in hand with the management and creative direction of the event, our sponsors and institutions, we have redefined the awards to turn them into a true statement of intent: they not only celebrate creativity, but they support and project the industry. Each recognition is part of a structure designed to generate impact, strengthen alliances with sponsors and institutions, and tangibly support the talent that drives Spanish fashion inside and outside our borders
Juan Duyos, president of ACME, expressed his gratitude to the designers for being part of Madrid Fashion Week and to MBFWMadrid for its contribution to the fashion design sector in Spain.
Opening Dinner by NARS
MBFWMadrid will begin with a gathering that brings together designers, industry, cultural leaders, and voices shaping the social agenda. That night, three awards designed to highlight the transformative power of talent will be presented:
- MBFWM Award for National Designer, awarded by the Madrid City Council, to Juan Vidal, recognising a career that has contributed to expanding the aesthetic identity of Spanish design and elevating its presence in the global imagination.
- The MBFWM Award for International Designer, awarded by the Madrid City Council, to Johanna Ortiz, celebrates the vision of those who have taken fashion beyond its borders, integrating culture, innovation, and sensitivity to connect with new audiences.
As recognition for these two awards, the Madrid City Council invites the winning designers to take part in MBFWMadrid, supporting their participation and integrating their vision into the catwalk programme.
- Additionally, at the Opening Dinner, the Icon Award NARS, presented by Leandra Medine, will recognise a figure whose presence, authenticity, and visual magnetism have transcended fleeting trends. In this case, NARS will assume the costs associated with its presence on the catwalk, accompanying this recognition with direct support for its participation.
Closing party of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid
The closing of the next MBFWMadrid edition will also be a reason to celebrate, with a party following the completion of the established designers' shows, during which four awards will be presented, recognising the narrative, stage presence and visual power of fashion:
- Mercedes-Benz Award for the Best Collection, awarded by Mercedes-Benz, in its 30th edition as the main sponsor of MBFWMadrid, inaugurating the Mercedes-Benz Award for the Best Collection, a new accolade aimed at recognising one of the established brands that will showcase between 18 and 21 March. A specialised jury will evaluate the creativity, talent, quality, and staging of the collections presented at the Galería de Cristal, the Palacio de Fernán Núñez, and Hall 14.1 at IFEMA Madrid.
The winning collection will be announced on the evening of Saturday, 21 March. This award replaces the historic Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent, which held its last edition in September, where Guillermo Décimo was the winner and will present his collection In Tempo at the Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week in April.
- MBFWM Prize for Best Model x NARS, awarded by NARS, celebrates the energy, professionalism and magnetism of the models who bring the collections to life.
- NARS Award for Best Makeup Artist, a tribute to the technical and creative excellence of catwalk makeup, awarded by NARS.
EGO Awards: two decades driving the future of design
Within the framework of the 20th anniversary celebration of EGO, the platform, whose main sponsor this time is the Community of Madrid, has introduced a revamped award structure aimed at recognising experimentation, sustainability, material innovation and the international projection of new talent.
Among them, the EGO Honorary Award is a high point, which this year honours Andrés Aberasturi, creator and commissioner of the platform, and founder and president of Grupo Pelonio, for his foundational role in consolidating emerging Spanish talent. The Showroom EGO New Brand Award will also be granted, offering a direct growth path tailored to the winner's profile—from catwalks in September 2026 to accessing other professional fairs at IFEMA MADRID, like MOMAD and BISUTEX—and the Pelonio New Talent Award, created by the creative communication agency, focused on creativity and new aesthetic narratives. Joining them is the PYRATEX® EN TRAMA Award, which recognises innovation in responsible materials with a donation of fabrics, specialised mentoring, and the support of PYRATEX®. Finally, the EGO International Award will allow the selected brand to showcase its collection on one of the affiliated catwalks in Copenhagen or Saudi Arabia, reinforcing the global influence of the new generation of Spanish design.
Business support for the fashion industry
The upcoming edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, organised by IFEMA MADRID with the support of Madrid City Council, will not only bring together established designers and new voices in design but will also create a narrative around recognition, visibility, and real support for the industry.
Furthermore, this edition will be supported by the participation of different companies and institutions as sponsors, demonstrating unconditional support for fashion. In this edition, it maintains its commitment as the main sponsor, Mercedes-Benz, joined by NARS as the new main sponsor and official makeup partner. MBFWMadrid will also have Iberia and La Casa de las Carcasas as sponsors; and the Diputación de Almería, Tequila 1800, UDIT, Schweppes, CEOE Castilla y León, Málaga de Moda and Comunidad de Madrid as collaborators.
Additionally, the ¡HOLA! Group is still on board as Media Partner and ¡HOLA! TV will continue as the International TV of the event.
For the emerging designers platform EGO, the Comunidad de Madrid has taken over as the main sponsor, and Pyratex as the textile innovation partner of EGO.
