T2T R-PET® is the acronym for "tray to tray" in recycled PET, of R-PET trays produced by recycling R-PET or post-consumer PET trays. This pursues the goal of the "closed loop", not only within the ILIP Group, thanks to the vertical integration of recycling, but also thanks to the recycling of PET food packaging. All ILIP R-PET containers are produced not only from bottles, but also from recycled PET trays and baskets.
The ILPA Group, to which ILIP belongs, has vertically integrated the R-PET supply chain and has a state-of-the-art recycling plant at AMP Recycling Ferrara, where it mechanically recycles post-consumer PET food packaging and bottles to obtain, in line with the circular economy approach, secondary raw materials in the form of flakes, which it can then use in its products.
AMP Recycling has EuCertPlast and EuCertPlast Food certifications and also an EFSA-approved decontamination process to treat post-consumer flakes to obtain materials suitable for direct food contact (also known as "Food Grade R-PET").
ILIP and the companies of the ILPA Group, with a recycling capacity of 60,000 tons of PET per year, are helping to
- reduce the environmental impact of the products they recycle and those they manufacture;
- achieve Italian plastic packaging recycling targets, operating in their chosen territory, Emilia-Romagna;
- achieving European circular economy targets;
R-PET: ILIP's approach
ILIP is a European leader in the production of packaging and in the conversion of plastic and bioplastic, contributing to improving the environmental sustainability of the communities in which it operates and where it is established and of the markets it serves.All in compliance with European legislation on employment, health, environment and consumer protection. Only by avoiding unilateral declarations characterized by what today is called "greenwashing" can we have a concrete positive impact on the environment and on the communities directly involved.This is why our approach is based on verified and verifiable data and declarations, and why we have also started to certify our products with EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations), starting with the most popular models.
