Titbit: RTE Fruit in the Heart of Europe
Consistent Ready-to-Eat quality requires more than just ripe fruit. It requires control over the entire process. Titbit is a partner for retailers, foodservice operators and distributors looking for reliable quality, greater supply flexibility and lower waste throughout the supply chain.
The company specializes in importing and ripening mangoes and avocados to Ready-to-Eat (RTE) quality — the point at which the fruit is ready to eat and delivers its full flavour potential.
Controlled Ripening as the Foundation
At the core of the process is Titbit’s proprietary climacteric ripening system. Specialized ripening chambers combine precise temperature and humidity control with active airflow through entire pallets and individual boxes. This ensures that fruit ripens evenly and consistently across every batch.
The fruit ripens gradually from the centre outward, which differs significantly from conventional ethylene-based ripening methods. The result is more consistent texture, flavour and overall quality.
Titbit currently operates a dedicated Ready-to-Eat ripening system for mangoes and avocados that is unique in the Czech Republic and the wider Central European region.
Real-Time Quality Control and Proprietary Technologies
Ripening is supported by Aweta equipment that monitors the internal condition of avocados without cutting the fruit open. This allows more accurate ripening decisions and quality management throughout the process.
The company has also developed its own edible coating solutions under the name Titbit Coating System. These coatings help reduce moisture loss and maintain fruit quality during transport, distribution and retail handling.
Building on its avocado coating expertise, Titbit developed a dedicated coating formula for mangoes — currently the only solution of its kind developed specifically for this fruit.
Benefits Across the Supply Chain
The result is stable Ready-to-Eat quality with balanced flavour, the right texture and extended shelf life. For retail and distribution partners, this means more predictable deliveries, greater inventory flexibility and reduced food waste.
Controlled ripening also helps reduce dependence on air freight, contributing to lower logistics costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
Looking Ahead
Titbit continues to develop new ripening and coating technologies and plans to expand these systems to additional fruit categories, including stone fruit and pears.Stand 4A14 en Fruit Attraction
