Smurfit Westrock: World leader in sustainable packaging

Smurfit Westrock: World leader in sustainable packaging presents its broad portfolio of solutions for the fruit and vegetable sector at the fair.
Smurfit Westrock is the largest integrated manufacturer of paper-based packaging worldwide following the merger in 2024 of Smurfit Kappa and Westrock, two of the most recognized leaders in the packaging industry. This alliance has resulted in a leading company in sustainable packaging solutions, distinguished by its broad product portfolio, a strong global presence in more than 30 countries, and a workforce of more than 100,000 employees.
Its commitment to innovation and the circular economy allows it to offer renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable packaging for the fruit and vegetable sector, with a focus on value creation, environmental friendliness, and customer satisfaction. At Fruit Attraction 2025, Smurfit Westrock will once again share its exclusive portfolio of packaging designed specifically for the agri-food sector. Among the most innovative solutions are the customizable, mono-material ‘Safe&Green’ trays, as well as the recyclable ‘EverGrow’ packaging, made with renewable fiber-based materials, ideal for fruits such as cherries, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, and blueberries.
Most Advanced Technological Solutions
Visitors to this edition of Fruit Attraction will be able to experience firsthand the most advanced technological solutions, such as its innovative ‘TechniPaper,’ which make a difference in the preservation and logistics of fresh produce. These include ‘AgroLife,’ which extends the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, and ‘AquaStop,’ which is water-resistant and completely recyclable. Not to mention other paper-based materials such as our Hexacomb packaging, which offers an extraordinary combination of strength and lightness.
With sustainability as its central pillar, the multinational has created the Better Planet Packaging initiative, developed to offer more sustainable and recyclable packaging alternatives to other single-use materials. Through this initiative, the company is committed to maximizing waste prevention, promoting the reuse of materials, and encouraging recycling. Smurfit Westrock, in its commitment to sustainable innovation, has a global network of more than 1,600 designers and thirty interconnected Experience Centers, including the Agri Experience Centre in Alicante, the first innovation center dedicated exclusively to agricultural packaging in Europe, and the Rabat Experience Centre, the first cutting-edge innovation center in Africa.
