The fifth MADRID CITIES FORUM (2022), which will be held in person from 14 to 16 June at the IFEMA MADRID Recinto Ferial, has scheduled a packed agenda of conferences, which will take place within the framework of the fourth ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM, FSMS 2022, which includes the 21st International Urban Planning and Environment Fair, TECMA, and the International Trade Fair for Recovery and Recycling, SRR. It will feature 50 round tables comprising 24 thematic sessions and four areas of debate: 'Urban planning', 'Renaturalisation', 'Cities to live in' and 'Circular economy'. Meanwhile, the financing of urban projects, people's quality of life and the exchange of best practices are the main issues present throughout the programme in a cross-cutting manner.

In total, more than 260 speakers will take part, as well as experts in different areas of city management, and more than 70 Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American cities will participate.

Registration for the Cities Forum is free of charge. All you have to do is register on the event's website.

The MADRID CITIES FORUM has the direct collaboration of the Madrid City Council and the involvement of organisations such as the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, FEMP; the Biodiversity Foundation; the Union of Latin American Capital Cities, UCCI; the European Commission and UN-Habitat, among others.

The diversity of approaches to urban affairs is once again the hallmark of the MADRID CITIES FORUM, with the collaboration of more than 60 organisations and entities that have participated in the design of the programme.

The MADRID CITIES FORUM has the main sponsorship of FCC Medio Ambiente, PreZero España and Iberdrola, and the thematic sponsorship of Ecoembes and Foro de Empresas por Madrid.

Parallel activities

As a complement to the activities in the four dynamic rooms, on 16 June at 1:30 p.m. the first Tree Awards event will be presented, an initiative that seeks to give visibility and relevance to a project of an urban nature that stands out for its objectives and formats. The panel of judges of the awards is made up of experts in urban nature, all of them representatives of the most prominent sectoral organisations, and members of the teaching staff of the Master's Degree in Historic Gardens and Ecosystem Services of Green Infrastructure of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, UPM.

In addition to the dynamic rooms, attendees will be able to visit the second "Tecma Verde" Exhibition of Good Urban Practices, a compendium of some twenty projects focused on improving urban spaces in areas such as renaturalisation, urban planning and the circular economy. Several of these projects come from the exhibition organised by the International Federation of Landscape Architects, IFLA.

Meanwhile, the Circular Economy Working Group, made up of some twenty organisations, will present its 2022 paper in one of the three sessions to be held on the circular economy, specifically in the one to be held on 15 June at 10:30 am. On this occasion, the paper will focus on how to improve waste collection in our cities.

The fifth MADRID CITIES FORUM, together with the 21st International Urban Planning and Environment Trade Fair, TECMA, and the International Trade Fair for Recovery and Recycling, SRR, is part of the fourth ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM-FSMS 2022. This event will coincide with GENERA, the Energy and Environment Fair, and the MOBILITY CALL congress.
