MOMAD, the International Fashion, Textile, Footwear and Accessories Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID from February 4 to 6, will have an important presence of men's fashion, a growing segment that will showcase its latest trends, with a wide variety of styles, featuring both national and international representatives.
Men's fashion has been gaining prominence in the fashion trade in Spain in recent years, and in 2020 already accounted for 31.6% of total sales, second only to women's fashion with 35.7%, and well above children's fashion (13.1%) and home textiles (19.6%). Moreover, in recent months the sector as a whole has begun its post-pandemic recovery, with sales up 6.3% in October 2021, 9.7% in November and 3.2% in December, according to the Acotex Barometer, which includes a representative sample of the men's, women's and children's apparel, home textiles and accessories sectors.
In this context, the sector remains optimistic for 2022. Proof of this is that63% of the main Spanish fashion companies are confident that the market situation this year will be "good", and 7% expect a "very good" situation, according to a this year will be "good" and 7% expect the situation to be "very good", according to the Veepee-Modaes Barometer.
The fur industry maintains an important presence in the Spanish business fabric dedicated to clothing. The turnover of companies specializing in articles of this segment represents 9.9% of the total business of the sector, according to the latest data collected by a study of modaes.es. This percentage is much higher, for example, than that of the manufacture of knitted garment articles, which stands at 0.4%. On the other hand, fur companies represent 1.4% of the total number of clothing companies.
Prominent brands in this segment that will attend MOMAD will be Banhof, Campoy, Corty Bennett, Peleteria Campoy, Ff Collection Filippos Filippidis, Notis Grigorios, Leathertex, Mapino, Shades Of Leather and Zamback.
Protocol for health safety at MOMAD
IFEMA MADRID has implemented a demanding health protocol to reinforce controls and maximize all security measures. In order to attend the Fairgrounds, all participants from countries that are members of the EU will be required to present the EU COVID Digital Certificate. And for participants from third countries, obtain the QR Spain Travel Health that allows entry into Spain. Failing this, a negative test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival at the fair will be requested.
At the same time, the organization provides the attendees with PCR and antigen tests at the fairgrounds, in case they are necessary to access the fair or for transfers back to the place of origin.
From February 2 to 6, IFEMA MADRID will host the first major gathering of the year in Europe for decorations and gift, jewelry and watchmaking, costume jewelry and accessories along with the fashion and footwear sectors thanks to the celebration of the Intergift, Bisutex, Madridjoya and MOMAD fairs.
