Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid maps the future of emerging talent with its new EGO Committee
UDIT, the University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has hosted the inaugural meeting of the committee to define the key pillars of the next edition of EGO. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid will be held from 14 to 19 September.
On the threshold of a new edition, Mercedes‑Benz Fashion Week Madrid, organised by IFEMA MADRID with the support of Madrid City Council, has convened the EGO Committee, the body tasked with assessing and championing the new voices of Spanish fashion. The meeting, held at UDIT, the University of Design, Innovation and Technology, provided the setting for in‑depth discussion and agreement on the core principles that will shape the forthcoming edition of EGO, as well as for the selection of the designers who will feature on its show schedule.
The EGO Committee, renewed for this latest edition of the catwalk, reflects a broad, contemporary sensibility attuned to fashion today, bringing together design, culture, communication and storytelling to explore fashion’s dialogue with society.
Within this framework, UDIT, the University of Design, Innovation and Technology, further strengthens its ties with Mercedes‑Benz Fashion Week Madrid, to which it has consistently contributed by promoting emerging talent. This year, its Degree in Design marks its 15th anniversary, consolidating its position as a benchmark in training new generations of designers and in forging links between academia and the fashion industry.
The Committee is made up of the following fashion‑industry professionals:
- Xavi García and Franx de Cristal, creative directors at Acromatyx.
- Alejandra Muñoz, Brand & Communication director at PYRATEX®.
- Borja Bas, director of HIGHXTAR.
- Javier Guijarro, creative director of Javier Guijarro.

EGO: where the future of fashion and design is born
More than a platform, EGO has, over its 20‑year history, evolved into a true ground for discovery. It has been the launchpad for designers who now form part of the national and international creative ecosystem, including Acromatyx, Ernesto Naranjo, María Escoté, Juan Vidal, Moisés Nieto and Mané Mané.
Within this process, the EGO Committee operates as both filter and catalyst, assessing proposals through a lens that brings together craftsmanship, creativity, coherence and future potential.
