Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid starts celebrating its 40th anniversary by handing out the MBFWMadrid Awards to Palomo and Silvia Tcherassi

The official party, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Galería Canalejas, marked the start of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of this iconic catwalk.
Spanish fashion's premier fashion event, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, celebrated at the Four Seasons Hotel in Galería Canalejas last night. The reason for the first edition of the MBFWMadrid Awards was to recognise the viewpoint, innovation and commitment of designers who have been a watershed for the fashion industry.
At this, the first ever edition, the 40th MBFWMadrid Anniversary International Designer Award went to Silvia Tcherassi, who received the accolade from Venezuelan entrepreneur Carmen Busquets, in recognition of her key role in the internationalisation of Hispanic-American fashion and her close ties with Madrid.
Meanwhile, the National Talent Award went to Palomo. The honour was presented by Oscar Romera Madrid City Council, highlighting his ability to reinvent the codes of Spanish fashion and position himself as one of the most influential voices of his generation on the international scene.
Both winners received El Paso Alto, an exclusive work created by the artist Juan Garaizabal. This sculptural piece symbolises the creative and human ascent through an irregular staircase that represents the twists and turns of life.
An anniversary that celebrates the future of fashion
MBFWMadrid is kicking off its 40th anniversary with these awards, which will continue until 21 September. Throughout the event, talent will also be celebrated with the presentation of this year's L’Oréal Paris Award for Best Collection and the L’Oréal Paris Award for Best Model, taking place next Saturday. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent, the most international award at MBFWMadrid that underscores the brand's support for emerging talents in its 26th edition, will also take place.
Yet again, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is reaffirming its mission to be a platform for visibility for creative talent and a showcase for Spanish fashion in the world.
