About Karla Aguilar

Karla Aguilar Balcázar is a Spanish fashion designer whose work explores the relationship between body, emotion and transformation. Her visual language combines distorted tailoring, sculptural volumes, manipulated materials and artisanal processes. She personally develops the pattern cutting, construction and dyeing of her garments, researching manual techniques and organic materials. Her work is rooted in author fashion and understands clothing as an emotional and psychological extension of the body.

AMORFO

AMORFO is born from dissociation as a physical and emotional experience. The collection begins at the moment when the body no longer feels like one's own and reality starts to be perceived in an altered way. Clothing then becomes refuge, armour, mask and membrane.

Enveloping volumes protect and distort the silhouette, while transparency and openings expose its vulnerability. Tailoring is altered, fabrics are gathered, eroded and hand-dyed using natural dyes. Every garment has been patterned, constructed and manually manipulated by the designer.

Material research plays a central role in the collection. Alongside natural textiles, AMORFO incorporates pieces developed with biodegradable gelatine, conceived as organic second skins adapted to the body.

The collection proposes an uncomfortable, visceral and sensitive form of beauty, born from trauma, protection and transformation. Each look represents a stage of the process: hiding, hardening, exposing and finally being reborn.
