What is Liber?

The event, the main business platform dedicated to Spanish-language publishing and one of the most important international meetings, is open to all book sectors, with special attention to digital content, new publishers, desktop publishing and intellectual property.

The positive results from the Barcelona 2018 event, attended by nearly 11,000 people, confirmed the fair’s dynamic role in moving sales in the Spanish publishing sector, especially externally.

LIBER 2019 is backed by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, ICEX Spain Export and Investment, the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the City of Madrid and the Spanish Reproduction Rights Organisation (CEDRO). It is held in association with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Madrid Publishers’ Association.

Why visit Liber?

Madrid is again set to host the largest international event for books in Spanish with the announcement of the LIBER International Book Fair, organised by IFEMA and promoted by the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds (FGEE).

With more than 452 companies taking part from 11 countries – Germany, Argentina, Belgium, China, Spain, the U.S, France, India, Italy, Mexico and Russia – this year will offer the widest panorama of current publishing. It will also host an interesting programme of professional parallel activities. The trade fair will feature more than 150 presentations and round tables featuring 300 speakers, offering a chance to exchange ideas and experiences on highly topical subjects.

The first event dedicated to Spanish-language publishing in Europe and the main centre of business and professional exchange, it is open to all publishing sectors, with special attention to digital content, new publishers, self-publishing and literary agents.

During three content-packed days, LIBER brings together publishers, authors, literary agents, booksellers, distributors and other sector professionals. More than 10,000 people will attend the event, which each year sees numerous agreements reached and commercial exchanges made.
