

APAE announces the 15th edition of its journalism awards

The Fruit Attraction fair, Corteva Agriscience and Cajamar are sponsoring these awards, which have the collaboration of FEPEX. The awards will be presented during Fruit Attraction, which will be held at IFEMA MADRID between 30 September and 2 October.
The Asociación de Periodistas Agroalimentarios de España (APAE) has announced the fifteenth edition of its journalistic awards. As in previous editions, there will be four categories:
- The general category, with a prize of 1,000 euros for the best text on production (agriculture, livestock, fishing, inputs, etc.), industry, transport or food distribution.
- The Fruit and Vegetables category, consisting of a prize of 1,000 euros for the best article with a specific fruit or vegetable theme.
- The Innovation category, with a prize of 1,000 euros, which is open to journalistic articles or reports on the application of new technologies in the agri-food sector.
- The Agri-food Sustainability category, with a prize of 1,000 euros, and whose works must focus on sustainability within the agri-food sector, from an economic, social and/or environmental point of view.
The prize is open to journalists working in the Spanish media in a personal capacity. Only one journalistic work, column, article, chronicle, interview, report, etc. per person, published in Spanish and published in any Spanish media between 01 September 2024 and 24 August 2025, may be submitted. The original works, copies of the publication or articles on the Internet - with the corresponding hyperlink - must be sent before 24 August 2025 by e-mail and attaching the completed entry form to the following address: apae@apae.es
The APAE journalistic awards are sponsored by the Fruit Attraction trade fair (prize in the ‘Fruit and Vegetables’ category), Corteva Agriscience (prize in the “Innovation” category) and Cajamar (prize in the ‘Agri-food Sustainability’ category), as well as with the collaboration of the Spanish Federation of Fruit and Vegetable Exporting Producers' Associations (FEPEX).
Latest winners
In the previous edition, Miguel Ángel Mainar was the winner in the ‘General’ category for his article Diálogo y filosofía para los problemas del campo published on 15 March 2024 in the magazine Tierras, from the Interempresas group. In the ‘Fruit and Vegetables’ category, sponsored by Fruit Attraction, the jury decided to award the prize to Alicia Lozano, author of the article Una mancha verde en este entorno negro, published in the magazine Mercados on 22 April 2024.
The winning article in the ‘Innovation’ category, sponsored by Corteva, was published in the ABC newspaper on 6 September 2023: La UE revive la batalla por la modificación genética de los alimentos (The EU revives the battle for the genetic modification of food), written by the journalists Patricia Biosca and Isabel Miranda. And in the Agri-Food Sustainability category, sponsored by Cajamar, the winning entry was the report entitled TIC4BIO, mezclando el agua y el aceite, broadcast on Canal Sur Radio's ‘Cambio Climático’ programme on 26 April 2024 and written by journalist Javier Bolaños.
The awards ceremony will take place during the Fruit Attraction fair, which this year will be held between the 30th of September and the 2nd of October at the IFEMA MADRID exhibition centre.
