This brand new infrastructure, within the Elvas Logistics Platform, is only 12 km from Spain and connected by road to all mainland Portuguese ports.

As a bonded warehouse, it allows cargo to leave the port for unloading and undergo customs and phytosanitary inspections, avoiding delays and additional charges related to the return of containers.

Fully equipped to maintain the cold chain, the Elvas refrigerated warehouse offers not only customs clearance and short and long-term storage, but also phytosanitary inspection, export documentation, cross-docking, consolidation and deconsolidation, collection and, finally, distribution.

The fruit seasons in the northern and southern hemispheres take place at different times of the year, so that the same products can be consumed all year round, regardless of the season. This is enabled by international trade and logistics solutions created by the global supply chain.

From 2021 to 2022, the volume of fresh fruit imports from outside Europe saw a decrease in volume, but remained at almost 12,000 tonnes.

The Transitex team is convinced that the Elvas cold store will become a key element for fruit imports into the EU. Therefore, at the next edition of FRUIT ATTRACTION, we will be promoting this facility and its services dedicated to international trade.
