In its commitment to sustainability and the search for improvements to meet the needs of its customers, its team has been able to design a 100% sustainable box that, without the use of any glue or tape, prevents it from being opened until it reaches its destination.
With 125 years of experience in the production of corrugated containers and packaging, and a long history of supplying the agricultural sector, International Paper is reinventing its award-winning box and repurposing it for the fruit and vegetable industry.
Based on a patented model designed to favour the intact transport of the goods, International Paper wanted to think about its most loyal customers, the fruit and vegetable professionals. It has therefore created a new version for home delivery, specifically developed for this sector. This new creation not only maintains its sustainability and safety, but also has a ventilation and visibility system that allows the properties of the products to be maintained and the interior to be checked without having to open it.
In the words of Ausiàs Fuster, Regional Innovation Manager at International Paper for Spain and Portugal, "The fruit and vegetable sector has always been of great importance to International Paper, it is an industry we have been working with for years and we know its requirements in detail. For this reason, we wanted to design a project exclusively for them, which would allow them both to deal with last-mile delivery problems and facilitate their management. All without generating a negative impact on the environment". Furthermore, he adds that "this box is capable of adapting to any fruit or vegetable foodstuff, we don't want any of them to be left behind. That is why it is made to prevent it from being opened, to observe its interior and to conserve the good condition of the merchandise through ventilation".
